When Prilosec first went OTC, it meant I was actually paying *more* for the medication than with insurance, so naturally I tended to go for the generic when available. Unfortunately, neither the brand-name nor the generic was in user-friendly packaging - it was impossible to get the pills out of the blister-pack without either gouging my fingers, or resorting to scissors. VS Most Liked Negative Review Had a severe reaction to this product. I took this product and all went well the first two days. This was the first time I'd tried it. The third evening within half an hour of taking it or less I began having a severe reaction to it. There wasn't a place on my body from my toes to the top of my head that did not itch severly and feel in pain it was so bad. Of course it was a time release 24 hour tablet and it took about 30 hours for the effects to finally wear off. Just thought I should warn it's possible some people can't take this. I really wanted to as I was so pleased it seemed to be working the first 2 days. This is only the second time I've ever had this particular reaction to a drug and first for an over the counter one. Comments about Prilosec OTC Acid Reducer, 20.6mg, Tablets, 42 ea: I have Acid Reflux disease and I'm asthmatic. An asthma attack can be triggered by acid reflux or heartburn. I would have an asthma attack after every meal without Prilosec. I have been taking this daily for a couple years now. I take 1 every morning with my other asthma meds and I don't worry about reflux for the rest of the day. Pros

Comments about Prilosec OTC Acid Reducer, 20.6mg, Tablets, 42 ea: I call Prilosec a miracle drug. Of all the medications that I take, prescription & OTC, it is the one that consistently works and does what it's supposed to. I suffered from G.E.R.D. for years but when I'm on Prilosec it is gone! It's only drawback -- I have read that it reduces stomach acid so much that it can interfere with breaking down calcium supplements. Pros Cons Best Uses
Comments about Prilosec OTC Acid Reducer, 20.6mg, Tablets, 42 ea: I only use it about once a week now. Changed diet and don't need it as often. When I was taking it every day for 14 days it worked really well, but it gets expensive when you're having to take it like that. Pros Cons Best Uses
Comments about Prilosec OTC Acid Reducer, 20.6mg, Tablets, 42 ea: I use this daily to prevent acid reflux. 99.9% of the time it works. The only caveat is that if you have taken the pill and you do get an acid attack you cannot take another pill for 24 hours. Pros

Comments about Prilosec OTC Acid Reducer, 20.6mg, Tablets, 42 ea: I took this for almost 2 weeks without relief, then my doc told me you are supposed to take it with water then wait 30-60 minutes before eating anything. I wish they would explain that in the dosage instructions, it just says to take with water before breakfast! Once I started taking it correctly I started feeling better in just a few days. Comments about Prilosec OTC Acid Reducer, 20.6mg, Tablets, 42 ea: I have taken Prilosec OTC for about 5 months now. It seems to be working fine. My doctor told me I could use it daily for my severe acid reflux. I have used Achiphex in the past, which also works well, but insurance wouldn't pay. Also the Achiphex caused me severe joint pain in my ankles (around the Achilles tendon). So far I haven't seen any side effects from Prilosec OTC. Was just concerned about taking it daily since the packaging clearly says only 14 days at a time. My doctor okd it, but I am still a bit concerned. -T.
