This device may be used only for measuring body temperature
The battery is well sealed inside the thermometer to reduce the risk to be swallowed by children
Protect the thermometer from impact and dropping
Avoid ambient temperatures above 140°F. Never boil the thermometer
Use only the commercial disinfectants listed in the cleaning and disinfecting section to clean the thermometer. The thermometer must be intact when immersed in liquid disinfectant
Turning on the thermometer: To turn on the thermometer, press the on/off button.
A display test is performed. All segments should be displayed. Then at an ambient temperature of less than 90.0°F an L and a flashing °F appear at the display field
The thermometer is now ready for use
Function test: Correct functioning of the thermometer is tested automatically each time it is turned on. If a malfunction is detected, this is indicated by ERR on the display, and a measurement becomes impossible. In this case, the thermometer must be replaced. Using the thermometer: Important: This thermometer can be used with or without a probe cover fitted. If a probe cover is used, fit a new probe cover on the measuring tip. If a probe cover is not used, cleaning and disinfecting should be done per the instructions. When taking a measurement, the current temperature is continuously displayed and the °F symbol flashes. If the °F is no longer flashing, this means that the measured increase in temperature is less than 0.1°F in 16 seconds and that the thermometer can now be read. To prolong the battery life, turn off the thermometer by briefly pressing the on/off button. Otherwise the thermometer will automatically turn off after about 8 minutes, 40 seconds. Measuring methods: Oral use:
Do not drink hot or cold fluids, exercise, smoke or perform other activities that will raise or lower temperature readings when compared to your normal, average temperature
Place the probe tip well under the tongue (as shown in the diagram on the instruction sheet) as indicated by the check. The mouth should remain closed up to 5 minutes before attempting a reading. Instruct children not to bite down on the probe
The peak temperature should be reached in approximately 60 seconds. Opening the mouth or improper placement of the probe tip could result in a longer time for a reading
Underarm (axillary) use:
Wipe underarm with a dry towel
Place probe tip in armpit and bring arm down against the body. The measuring sensor should be pointing upward in the same direction as your body if possible
To receive more reliable results, we recommend to measure temperature orally or rectally. Approximate measuring time for an axillary measurement is 5 to 10 minutes
Rectal use:
Commonly used for babies, young children or when it is difficult to take an oral or underarm temperature
After placing the probe cover on the thermometer, lubricate with a water-soluble solution such as lubricating jelly
Gently insert the probe tip no more than 1/2 inch or 2-3 cm into the rectum. Do not force the tip into the rectum if resistance is encountered
Dispose of the used probe cover and wash the thermometer as recommended
The peak temperature should be reached in approximately 60 seconds
Cleaning and disinfecting: Use a soft, slightly moist cloth to clean the thermometer casing and the measuring tip. For disinfecting, wipe the thermometer with 70% isopropyl alcohol. Battery exhaustion: When the upside-down triangle appears on the right side of the display, the battery is exhausted and the thermometer needs to be replaced..
