great product. unlike tums this actually sits on top of acid.not permanent treatment like prilosec but safe for pregnant women. very happy with product. youre not supposed to use this 47 times a day. i used it alot and never had any stomach problems. i dont think it contains alot of sugar alcohol. anyway its a great heartburn product and unlike tums, too much calcium can be bad for you like wreak havoc on your iron absorption which i dont want as a pregnant woman

Gavison contains sorbitol / mannitol. both laxatives. If you use a lot of this product you will have dialy diarrhea. I have had GERD for more than a decade. I (used to) typically buy 4 bottles of Gaviscon at a time. I used the product practically every night before bed. I also have had daily soft stools and diarrhea for years, despite being in overall good health. I sought professional help. I created lengthy food diaries to figure out if a food allergy was causing my problem. But, I never could find a smoking gun. I now know it was the Gaviscon. My doctor told me to avoid products containing aluminium (which Gavisocn has, too.) When I inspected the product's label, I discovered that Gaviscon is sweetened with sorbiol. When I stopped using it, my soft stools completely stopped. More interesting, my GERD got no worse. Net, Gaviscon doesn't particulary work very well either to control reflux.
