When you feel stomach discomfort, Gaviscon works fast to alleviate it. We always travel with it because you never know about restaurant food. We don't like to take pills, but Gaviscon has never caused any side effects. We think it's the 'minimal' thing to take to get good, fast results.

Gaviscon has helped, when after long term use of prilosec and Zantac began causing deteriorating conditions. Great for acid reflux, works in minutes, and with no side effects or stomach pain that can happen with the long term acid medications.

Far better than tums or rolaids, which don't often help the problem.

The only drawback is the unusual flavor. It tastes of marshmallow/cake batter filled with a center of baking soda. Definately an alkaline finish to the taste. It also foams into a creamy strange texture, however that texture after swallowing forms a coating that offers instant relief.

I could not even tolerate more than two of these. I got the Original Flavor, which is a weird cross between mint and a strong yet strange vanilla flavor. I did not care for them at all. They worked, but I seriously had to choke them down. Not something I wanted to deal with when I had bad heartburn.

i have acid reflux and i'm 40. i take omeprazole every morning but gravity seems to win when i lay down for sleep. even with my bed top propt up i still get acid reflux and sore throats from it, but i take one gaviscon before sleep every night (for about 1 year now). it seems to help and i get better sleep. sometimes i will wake up around 4am and take another one, that seems to be about the effective time for 1. does foam a bit so will give a bit of gas and can make you stomach a bit rumbly in the morning sometimes. best i've found so far though.

This product does work for the times when my prescription fails to prevent acid reflux problems. That being said, I try anything to not have to take it because it grosses me out so much. You have to chew the tablets before swallowing (according to the directions), and at first it has a taste reminscent of cake batter (sounds great, right?) but in an instant it starts foaming up and curdling in your mouth. Its so chalky, foamy, and gross that every time I have to use it, I start gagging and have to chug at least 12 ounces of water.
I am glad to see from a few reviews that some people actually like the taste of this medicine, but I just wanted to get the word out there that the texture is sickening (in my opinion).
Even though it works well, I will be looking for another option for occasional use that won't make me gag when I take it!

I take a lot of NSAIDs for rheumatoid arthritis that do a number on my stomach. Even though I take a Rx med for acid reflux, sometimes it doesn't cut it when it's really bad. Gaviscon is the best antacid I've ever used and the doctor said I should use it as needed.
