My son got his first diaper rash at 7 1/2 months old. I had always used A+D Original Ointment at each diaper change for prevention, but to actually treat a rash, the pediatrician recommended Desitin. I noticed an improvement within an hour. By the next day, the rash had disappeared completely. Desitin is a thick ointment that really creates a protective and healing barrier on babies' skin. While other ointments and creams completely absorb into the skin in between diaper changes, I can still see a light coating of Desitin on my son when I change him. I have read other reviews about Desitin stating that it had an unpleasant smell, but I honestly don't mind the smell at all. Also, Desitin is 40% zinc oxide - other brands (Balmex & A+D) only contain 10% zinc oxide. This is the best diaper ointment I have tried, and now the only one I use for my son. If you have a child that has bad diaper rash, look no further! Balmex, Aveeno, and A&D (I tried them all) cannot compare to the long lasting protection Desitin provides. While the smell is strong, it worked on my daughter's diaper rash when no other would help. It also helped with to clear up her many yeast infections (along with Lotrimin AF), due to urinary tract problems. This is the stuff others wish they could be, even if the formula is 20+ years old. It works. Enough said.

This is highly recommended. This is by far the best product I have found that quickly clears up diaper rash. The smell isn't the best in the world, but that's a small price to pay for a happy baby. I put this on my son in the evenings and use the fresh Desitin creamy product during the day.

I found that the Desitin Diaper Rash Ointment works very well to cure and prevent diaper rash on my baby. In the past, I've used only generic diaper rash ointments, and you can definitely tell a difference between the two products. I'll be buying the Desitin from now on.

The ointments do nothing and the extra creamy brands wear off quickly. We even tried a store brand Desitin knock-off to save money, but it was very watery and greasy. I think the Desitin Diaper Rash Ointment is a wonderful product. It's really easy to use. The container was excellent to use by her diaper-changing table. It was very easy to keep one hand on her and use the other hand to get some Desitin. No tubes to squeeze. No little caps to try to get open. I'd recommend this to family and friends.

This is the first time I've used Desitin. Though my kids rarely have a problem with diaper rash, I believe this product does what it claims. Minor redness was gone after one diaper change. I also applied it at night, and there was no redness in the morning. Desitin applies easily. I can spread it as thick or thin as I like. The jar format was much easier to use than a tube. My only complaint is the fragrance. I see that fragrance was added -- they could've chosen a more pleasant fragrance.

This is a great diaper rash ointment. I used it on both of my children. It's especially great for overnight use. No red bottoms in the morning. Clears up minor diaper rash within 24 hours. I'd recommend this to anyone with diaper wearers!
