Hi had oral surgery and I could not eat solid food for 2 weeks, the only drink replacement that I found I could tolerate was ensure. Ensure tasted great and it wasnt gritty. Boost shakes were disgusting and Slim Fast made me go to the bathroom and was gritty- these gave me the nutrition I needed but they were also yummy compared to the other brands.

I thought Ensure vanilla tasted OK and it helped me gain weight, but I avoid it for frequent long-term use because when I drank Ensure 4X a day, the manganese intake equaled 240% of RDA (compared to 140% for the Boost I now take instead). Studies indicate a link between high manganese intake and neurodegenerative diseases, particularly Parkinson's, while such high intake has no apparent health benefits. So I choose to avoid this unnecessary health risk, even if I'm just being very cautious.
This item is being used to gain weight prior to medical treatments. Be careful when using, however, because there is Vitamin E in it and that is an issue when preparing for surgical procedures. All in all it will continue to be used as a aid in maintaining the immune system. It is a little pricey.
