Pros: Easy To Use, Effective, Promotes Healing, Safe
Describe Yourself: Novice First Aid Skills, Parent
Best Uses: Keep In The Medicine Cabinet, Outdoor Activities
Primary use: Personal
Bottom Line: recommended
This is the best medicine I've found for minor cuts! Cat scratches, paper cuts, etc, once the initial sting from applying the New-Skin goes away, you never feel any pain again. Seals the wound and helps it heal quickly and safely. I take some on every trip, and keep some in the medicine cabinet ALWAYS, wouldn't leave home without it!

by No More Sting[Verified Reviewer] in SF Bay Area on 8/16/09
Pros: Easy To Use
Cons: Doesn't Alleviate Pain, Harsh, Messy
Primary use: Personal
Bottom Line: not recommended
I frequently get paper cuts on my fingers and hands. The nail polish NuSkin stings very much & I don't quite understand how others are saying the sting is minor . . . maybe they are using it on a callous . . . I accidentally spilled a drop on my white countertop & & did not notice it until a week later. By this time, the solution had turned brown and was permanently bonded. I called the distributor to ask how to remove the product. Luckily their suggestion of nail polish remover worked. Another obseration I shared with them was that I think it is very unsanitary to dip and re-dip the NuSkin brush after using it on wounds . . . The distributor claimed that the alcohol in the solution killed the germs that is on the brush when re-dipped. I don't like the re-dipping. I'm switching to Liquid Bandage by Johnson & Johnson single use swabs.

Used this in an area that my jeans chaffed--slow to dry and has a harsh odor when wet, but works well once dried. Doesn't get rubbed off by clothing.

I like this product. It's an improvement on the previous spray can version; much easier to control application.

My 2.5yo son fell and scraped most of the skin off both knees. A conventional band aid would not have covered the wound and would have been torn off or fallen off by it self in short order. He did not enjoy the slight sting as it was going on, and I wish I had had the spray to cover the large area more quickly, but it stayed on very well, and came off naturally as his wounds healed. He wound up with no scars, which surprised me. And because the product was like a second skin, he never ave it a second thought while healing, except when he went through the "itchy" stage.

The first time I used this stuff was to seal a deep cut that was on the top of my index finger right above the knuckle. It was great because I couldn't cover it with a bandage considering the location. It helped keep the wound closed like a butterfly bandage so scarring was minimal. The second time I had to break it out was when I accidently stabbed the tip of my pinky with scissors. Yes, I'm accident prone! There was no way a bandage would have covered it so a couple swipes of this and I was good to go! Yes, there is MINOR stinging upon application, no worse than if you applied hydrogen peroxide or rubbing alcohol, but after the first swipe I didn't feel anything. Repeated applications (it will peel off if it's in an area that is exposed to water frequently) were pain free. I also apply it to any scratches or small abrasions to speed healing.

Cons: Harsh, Ineffective

Should have read the reviews about the stinging before I tried on my 6-yr-old. He had an area on his pinky fingertip that was without skin and quite raw and we were having a heck of a time protecting it with standard bandages. Saw an add for this stuff and thought we'd found the answer. Ran out and bought some and applied it, and then listened to 20 minutes of screaming. The kid was practically hyperventilating. Every time he moved his finger he'd just start screaming again, like it was finding a new opening to try and fill. I finally talked him into letting me apply another coat (per directions) to remove the first coat. The next morning his finger was swollen and very irritated looking, way worse than before the treatment. We're back to Neosporin and bandaids and 2 days later, its now finally starting to return to its pre-treatment appearance (shocks me that I consider this an improvement!). I did try it on a smallish scrape of my own today and now I understand the pain my son must have been feeling. Yes, it feels better now, and as an adult, I can handle it, but if I'd tried it first, I'd have never tried it on his wound.

I am buying this product again, but I am annoyed that the cap broke easily and dried up everything inside. But it works great for the feet or hard to wrap place. Frank

Warning: this product contains an evil odor!!! With all this new technology can't they make a product that doesn't stink your whole house up? For a few little cuts it's not worth the torture of having a palm bomb of that magnitude. The smell woke me up out of a dead sleep every time I put my hand near my face. Just buy a tube of super glue with the brush, it's less money and doesn't smell as bad! Now two days later my cuts hurt worse and I can't get rid of that haunting horrible odor!!!
New-Skin Antiseptic Liquid Bandage rates 5 out of 5 stars, from 25 customer reviews.I gave myself a nasty ...
by rob[Verified Reviewer] in Undisclosed on 3/18/07
I gave myself a nasty scrape on my temple with my thumbnail during jiu jitsu class. I poured some alcohol on it after class and put antibiotic ointment on it thereafter, but it was starting to look red and puffy. I was going to put a band-aid on it, but didn't want to look silly, so I got this New Skin stuff. It has a built in antiseptic. You just spray it on the cut/scrape and in a minute it forms an air permeable second skin over the wound. It's sort of like dried Elmer's glue, only thinner, stronger, and more resistant to rubbing off. As soon as I sprayed it, it felt better and the red puffiness quickly subsided. I'm really impressed and think it would be great for the minor cuts, scrapes, rug burns, and blisters that you get doing grappling. It is really quite durable too, so it is almost like an instant callous. Highly recommend it!
