MY YOUNG FAMILY WAS INFESTED WITH LICE IN SCHOOL AND WE WASTED HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS ON THIS PRODUCT BECAUSE IT DID NOT KILL THE BUGS AND EGGS. IT WAS USED IMPECCABLY IN ACCORDANCE WITH INSTRUCTIONS. AFTER BECOMING DESPERATE I BOUGHT ANOTHER BRAND AND USED IT ***ONCE*** FOLKS, AND NEVER EVER AGAIN WAS THERE A PROBLEM. THIS HEARTACHE USING NIX WENT ON FOR 8 NIGHTMARISH MONTHS,!!!!!! IT'S DISPICABLE HOW YOU'RE ROPED IN TO NEEDING TO BUY MORE.
Comments about Nix Cream Rinse Lice Treatment, Multi Pack, 2 bottles:
in our school district, lice run rampant. i can't tell u how many times my kids have been infested. both rid and nix contain pesticides and the lice are becoming immune to them. I usually use a combination of both
PLUS I use the ROBI COMB! it is a comb that sends an electrical current and will ZAP the lice and kill them. You can also HEAR when it stops buzzing so you can see if you found a nit or a live lice bug or not. At first glance the comb may seem expensive but it is WELL worth the price. You can keep it onhand and check your keeps weekly and prevent a major infestation!
Comments about Nix Cream Rinse Lice Treatment, Multi Pack, 2 bottles:
Head lice seem to be epidemic at my kids' school and I've had to use this product twice. The first time, all 3 of my kids had lice. 2 of them had MAJOR cases of it. I used Nix on them and then combed through with the plastic comb that came with the product. I do NOT recommend that comb, get a GOOD metal one like the Lice Meister. You can even boil it to sterilize it.
I then nit picked every day with the Lice Meister and did find a few baby lice that lived through the treatment. (Nix is supposed to kill eggs but obviously it didn't get them all). But I never saw any live lice after day 7 so I did not do a second treatment with Nix.
The second time, just one of my kids had lice and a pretty mild case. I got more Nix and used it and then nit picked every day. I never saw any live lice, Nix must have killed all the eggs.
The bottom line is you can use this but don't expect that it will work on it's own. You still need to comb, comb, and comb some more! Comb every day for the first week. Don't use more Nix unless you see live lice after day 7. Then comb every other day for the second week and maybe twice a week the third week. Then be sure to keep checking your kids once a week or twice a month for lice. Take it from someone who has been through it, it is MUCH easier to deal with a case that has been caught early.
all household members should be checked by another person for lice and/or nits (eggs)
use a magnifying glass in bright light to help you see the lice and nits (eggs)
use a tool, such as a comb or two unsharpened pencils to lift and part the hair
look for tiny nits near the scalp, beginning at the back of the neck and behind the ears
small sections of hair (1-2 inches wide) should be examined at a time
unlike dandruff, nits stick to the hair. Dandruff should move when lightly touched
if either lice or nits (eggs) are found, treat with Nix Creme Rinse
Treat
wash hair with a shampoo without conditioner. Do not use a shampoo that contains conditioner, or a conditioner alone since this may decrease the activity of Nix. Rinse with water.
towel dry hair so it is damp but not wet
shake the bottle of Nix well
completely saturate the hair and scalp with Nix. Begin to apply Nix behind the ears and at the back of the neck.
keep Nix out of the eyes. Protect the eyes with a washcloth or towel.
leave Nix on the hair for 10 minutes, but not longer
rinse with warm water
towel dry hair and comb out tangles
if live lice are seen seven days or more after the first treatment, a second treatment should be given
Remove Lice/Nits
remove nits by combing the hair with special small tooth comb provided. Remaining nits may be removed by hand (using a throw-away glove), or cutting the nits out.
use the nit comb provided and make sure the hair remains slightly damp while removing nits
if the hair dries during combing, dampen it slightly with water
part the hair into 4 sections. Work on one section at a time. Longer hair may take more time (1-2 hours).
Start at the top of the head on the section you have picked
with one hand, lift a 1-2 inch wide strand of hair. Get the teeth of the comb as close to the scalp as possible, and comb with a firm, even motion away from the scalp to the end of the hair.
use clips to pin back each strand of hair after you have combed out the nits
clean the comb completely as you go. Wipe the nits from the comb with a tissue, and throw away the tissue in a sealed plastic bag, to prevent the lice from coming back.
after combing, recheck the entire head for nits and repeat combing if necessary
check the affected head daily, to remove any nits that you might have missed
