Our History
Stefan Jacob founded Planet in 1989, while living on a small island near Vancouver, Canada. As a commercial fisherman, he felt passionate about the need to do something positive about the ever-increasing pollution of our water and soil.
The name Planet was arrived at when a child of one of the founding partners suggested that it would be a great name for a company that genuinely cared about the environment. We worked closely with an environmental chemist and Scientific Certification Systems (SCS) to develop truly non-polluting cleaning products. Today, Planet is growing steadily among the Goliaths of the household cleaning industry, even though we are still a small, independent company. Our Philosophy
At Planet, we believe that we all have a responsibility for the preservation of the earth. Planet is committed to the concept that companies must become part of the environmental solution, including recycling and reuse of materials, even if profits are a little lower as a result. We also feel strongly that companies should help fund the activities of non-profit organizations that focus all of their skills and energies on environmental issues. Planet makes annual donations to such groups. Finally, we strongly believe that environmental claims for products need to be certified by independent, respected organizations like SCS. Ultra Powdered Laundry Detergent has no added dyes or fragrances that can irritate sensitive skin. Certified Biodegradable Formula that is strong and effective. Low-sudsing formulation is ideal for front loading washers. Always insist on knowing what the products you use contain. Each of our ingredients has been independently certified to be biodegradable with discharges that are safe for all aquatic life. There may be significant settling of contents during shipment.
