Use this every few days, on my face and body. I have oily acne-rpone skin (in my 40s) and there have been no breakouts. Unlike other products where if I did not apply daily then there was no effect, I had a nice healthy color the same day. Smells pleasant (once again other brand was chemical-smelling), and applies smoothly. I notice that I had to wash my hands quickly after applying or they became dark and had to more thoroughly rinse them.

I only use this product on my legs. It works fast, I would like for it to be a bit more subtle in color, but am satisfied with it overall.

I really like this product because I have a skin condition that creates blotchy white marks all over my body. I need a product that offers great coverage (opaque) but isn't fake or too dark looking. This does the trick. It's my favorite and I think I've tried almost every self tanner on the market. What I've learned is that you must NOT judge a self tanner by the price. Price is not a good indicator of quality. I've wasted [$] plus on high end products which are inferior.

I will never use another tanner! This is the best one I have ever used.

use a few times a week after shaving, nice color not too orange, careful using body moisturizers though some like keri lotion makes color tranfer to clothes, however washes out easily, does not seem to permanently stain

Due to the fact that I am ghost-white and I know that frying yourself in the sun is NOT smart, I've used many kinds of self-tanning lotions. I like this one because it is less pricey than many others and I think the color comes out nicely. The cons are that it requires alot of maintenance (most self-tanners do) because you need to put on latex gloves and spend about a half hour spreading it on evenly. Not to mention spending half an hour before prepping the skin (exfoliating). I am ok with this because I don't have kids and I have the time for all this, but others should keep this in mind when wanting to purchase. Also, the smell isn't the greatest, I use strong soaps (Irish Spring) to put the smell in check. You would also need to be careful of your ankles, elbows, and knuckles...like other reviewers have stated those areas tend to get darker...I mix regular lotion with the tanner for those particular areas. I do this routine once week to keep a nice tan. To conclude, I do recommend self-tanner as long as you realize it's high maintenance!

I have tried many, MANY different brands of gradual self tan lotion (Dove, Jergan's, Loreal, Coppertone, Toma's, Ocean Potion, Mystic, Malibu, etc). This is my favorite thus far. With some of the above listed products, I did not notice any color until 3-4 days of consecutive application. With Banana Boat, I had a natural-looking noticeable slight increase in color upon the very first application. Some of the other brands I've tried turned me orange; Banana Boat provided a nice natural tan color so I didn't look like an Umpah Loompah. I did not have issues with uneven fade or the tan coming off in some parts on my body faster than others, which I did have problems with while using some of the other lotions. Some of the other products didn't give me even coverage and I ended up with streaks or patches. Banana Boat gave even coverage and the only problem I had was with the palms of my hands, but that was my own fault because I forgot to scrub them after application. I got it right the second time and it looked fine. I recommend the following application method for your hands: apply to the rest of your body first, then use lots of soap and the rough exfoliating side of a new dish sponge to thouroughly scrub your entire hand, especially the pams and in between the fingers. Once your hands are completely clean, use a cotton ball to apply the lotion to the back of your hands for even coverage. The lotion is slightly tinted to ensure even coverage. Apply the lotion in a well lit room with a mirror so you can see anywhere you may have missed. The one thing I don't like about this lotion is the same problem I have with all self-tanning lotions: after the lotion completely dries, the pleasant scent of the lotion slowly turns into "that smell" caused by the tanning agent dihydroxyacetone (DHA). The odor is not nearly as bad as some of the alternatives, such as Toma's (worst smell) or Mystic, but it is a little stronger than the lighter lotions such as Dove and Ocean Potion. I would say it's average as far as the smell. Overall , compared to other tanning products I have used, this is the best in my opinion. About me: I have very fair, sensitive and acne prone skin. I did not have any breakouts while using this product. In the summer I do tan in the sun as a supplement to using this lotion. Because this product works so great, I only have to apply it about every 3 days. For the winter, I may switch back to a lighter daily lotion that won't add so much color just to look more natural. I usually just want to add a slight glow in the winter and keep a lighter skin tone, so I wouldn't recommend Banana Boat for use in the winter on fair skin tones.
