Indications
Desenex cures athlete's foot (tinea pedis). Relieves the painful itching, burning, cracking and discomfort associated with athlete's foot.
Warnings
Do not use on children under 2 years of age unless directed by a doctor. For external use only. Avoid contact with the eyes. If irritation occurs or if there is no improvement within 4 weeks, discontinue use and consult a doctor. Keep this and all drugs out of the reach of children. In case of accidental ingestion, seek professional assistance or contact a poison control center immediately.
This product has Miconazole Nitrate which is the same ingredient in yeast infection creams. I did much research for something like the creams that come with yeast infection kits, and this is IT. I sprinkle a little on my panties and now I NEVER get yeast infections from perspiration down there!
Desenex powder is a wonderful way to prevent itchy under-breast rashes and redness. I'm surprised it isn't packaged in pink and sold with all the other "feminine itching" products.
This was an awesome helper for getting rid of underarm yeast from using crutches in the summer. When my daughter ended up on crutches, she began to develop a rash in her armpits. Everything she tried did not work (even other powders). I thought it might be a yeast infection. After researching, I found that this product had some ingredients that could work on yeast in this area of the body. It was applied several times a day to keep the area dry and coated. It cured it! Within a week or so, the red skin and itching was gone!
My father used Desenex powder, spray and cream (when they made them) daily for the treatment of jungle rot that he contracted in the tropics when he fought as a frontline Marine during World War II. Desendex was the only product that kept his feet from itching, bleeding and peeling. Highly recommended. I wish they still made the cream. Can't seem to find it anymore.
For fungal infections that are caused by skin rubbing together (particularly in heavy people) this works well, along with applying a topical antifungal treatment. Used consistently twice a day, it seems to cure most of the infection, though it will come back if treatment is discontinued. It's not always going to be a replacement for an oral prescription medication to get over such an infection, especially when it's on a larger part of the body. The one caveat with this powder is, compared to Ammens Body Powder or Johnson's & Johnson's, not much is in a container. The container I received was only 2/3 full (and it was sealed & unused, of course), and this is not cheap. But it does seem to work better than those brands for this particular concern.
This product has been used by my husband for over 5 years for the treatment of a severe scaling, flaking foot disorder obtained in Vietnam over 40 years ago. Clean the affected area and dry thoroughly. Apply a thin layer over affected area twice daily (morning and night) or as directed by a doctor. Supervise children in the use of this product. Pay special attention to the spaces between the toes. Wear well-fitting, ventilated shoes, and to change shoes and socks at least once daily. Use daily for 4 weeks. If condition persists longer, consult a doctor. This product is not effective on the scalp or nails.
