Prefer a neti pot

I am an experienced neti-pot user but tried the NeilMed bottle when my allergist gave it to me to try. I really wanted to like it, because I liked the idea of irrigating further up the sinuses than a neti-pot gets. However, I felt like my eardrums almost blew out with the pressure -- and I squeezed the bottle gently. Being a regular neti-pot user, I know what to expect from nasal irrigation, but my ears did not feel right for a few days after using the bottle. I was afraid to use it again (I have a history of ear/tube issues) and ended up putting it in the recycling bin. I'm back to my old faithful ceramic neti pot! All that said, I highly recommend nasal irrigation for anyone with allergies or sinus issues ... or for anyone who wants a good sense of well-being! In this case, the delivery method didn't work for me, but I'm glad others have had good luck with it without their ears being bothered.

I use this just about every night. Have chronic sinus problems and allergies, and it actually works. Wonder of wonders. No side effects from medication - I am on enough prescription medication. I should not be using certain OTC medications - decongestants, some antihistamines - because of my prescription meds and blood pressure, so this is great. It does take a little getting used to - it is like getting water up your nose at the pool or beach, but it does work. I am not stuffy, and can breathe through my nose all day and all night. If I feel like my allergies are getting the better of me, I use it twice a day. Otherwise, once in the evening is enough.

Has to be changed out at least every three months. I never put the bottle into the microwave, but the bottle becomes progressively more cloudy. Would like the product to be usable over a longer period of time.

I do a lot of gardening and manage to get lots of dirt, pollen and dust up my nose. Using this product after yard work ensures that I have no headache, sinus drip, or stuffed-up nose. Only product I've ever used that actually goes in one nostril and out the other.

Bth me and my husband use this product to help us control our allergies without side effects. I react harshly to most medicines, since this has no side effects I'm am greatfull for this product. I started 'nasal draining' by doing a home remedy remedy after it was recommended by a friend who noticed I didn't kick my nasal cold for a couple of months. It worked. However, I found out from my doctor that it was important that I use medical grade products because there could be things in the salt I use from home. That's why i use this product, plus this is one of the more economical of nasal products.

This was recommended to me by an ENT doctor I was seeing for a chronic sinus infection. Although I hate getting water up my nose, the benefits of this product far outweigh that discomfort! It feels really great to have clear nasal passages and to be able to breathe while sleeping! Although I've never used the Neti Pot, I understand this is better because it allows the user to control the force of the flow and it reaches farther back into the sinuses. Highly recommended.
