I was taking this because I am diabetic (type 2) and for 1 month, I could not figure out where this severe heartburn was coming from. I normally do not get heartburn. finally I figured out it was this stuff. I took this after a meal or before and even w/out a meal,...it did not matter. the heartburn was excruciating!!! I had to take 2 pepcid for it each time, and it took well over an hour for relief,..so I stopped taking it. I don't know if anyone else has experienced this.
I don't eat a lot of carby/sugary foods because I have gastric problems when I do. However, when I take this with a b complex vitamin, 1000 mg of acai and a 369 omega blend, I can consume it without difficulty later. Also good for diabetics. This is the doctor recommended dose. I am sad, however, because it seems drugstore.com will not be carrying natrol much longer- is this true?
My husband is diabetic and we had read this strength would help with controlling blood surgar levels. He was ill recently due to other causes and was not able to take any herbs. We found his blood sugar raised significantly, so we're unsure if this was caused by the illness or not being able to take the combination of herbs, including the Alpha Lipoic. He is now back on his herbs and his blood sugars are significantly less. Not sure if this is because he is over his illness or because he is able to take his herbs - but don't want to chance him not taking them!!!
I take this with my night-time snack and have no side effects or difficulties. I am uncertain if there is a benefit yet, but have only taken a month. Pricing is favorable to retailers.
