I first read about using ALA to help mitigate insulin resistance in a book about "Syndrome X." It's not something you can feel quickly, like a pain reliever, but I notice if I take it consistently I feel better overall, and my blood sugar is easier to control.

I was taking this because I am diabetic (type 2) and for 1 month, I could not figure out where this severe heartburn was coming from. I normally do not get heartburn. finally I figured out it was this stuff. I took this after a meal or before and even w/out a meal,...it did not matter. the heartburn was excruciating!!! I had to take 2 pepcid for it each time, and it took well over an hour for relief,..so I stopped taking it. I don't know if anyone else has experienced this.

I will buy this product again!

I take 2 capsules each day. 1 in the a.m. and 1 in the p.m. as part of a twice daily vitamin regimen prescribed by my orthopedic surgeon for neuropathy in an arm which has had numerous surgeries. It seems to be working very well in conjunction with other vitamins being taken.

This is the only 600 mg. product I've been able to find anywhere on the Internet. 600 mg. is the recommended daily dose for the relief of peripheral neuropathy. I found that recommendation in diabetes material and that was also the dose recommended by my oncologist. This is so much easier to take! I have not found any problem in swallowing it even though it is a fairly large capsule. Give it a try. You'll be glad you did.
