Scalpicin Anti-Itch Liquid Scalp Treatment rates 1 out of 5 stars, from 19 customer reviews.Very disappointed with this product
by Max-[Verified Reviewer] in SG on 7/16/09
Cons: Burning, Way too Harsh
Describe Yourself: Product Junkie
Hair Type: Straight Hair
Bottom Line: not recommended
I am very disappoint with this scalp treatment as I had high expectation even before it arrived to my house due to the good reviews here. This scalp treatment is best you on people who have severe dandruff, extremely oily scalp, scalp psoriasis and scalp sebherric dermatitis. I purchased it mainly for scalp itching but it burn my scalp and cause some hair shedding. I will stick to using Nizoral Shampoo and quit this Scalpicin once and for all after just one application. It is a shame that I purchase 4 tubes and now I don't know what I should do with it.

My husband has been bothered with itchy, flaky scalp off and on for years. Ionil medicated shampoo helped quite a bit, but the itchiness continued. He wanted to find an additional product to address the itching. I found this non-cortisone version of Scalpicin here at drugstore.com. I was persuaded to try it based on the reviews I read. They were so right. My husband loves it. As he was getting near the end of the first bottle, I reordered two more bottles.
Scalpicin Anti-Itch Liquid Scalp Treatment rates 5 out of 5 stars, from 19 customer reviews.Heals & Sooths, with out greasy feel
by gypsytda[Verified Buyer] in colorado springs, co on 3/11/09
Pros: Itchy Scalp Relief
Describe Yourself: Minimalist
Best Uses: Irritated Scalp, Stress scratching
Hair Type: Straight Hair
Bottom Line: recommended
I have had an anxiety habit of scratching bald spots into my head. I have extremely thick hair, so this takes alot of doing. I have tried to find something to resolve this habit, and kept sidestepping products like this, thinking it was more of a medical treatment and I did not think I needed that. This product definitely has dramatically reduced my stress scratching, and my hair started coming back by the next day (it grows freakishly fast). This solution tingles initially, but then goes completely unnoticed, still the soothing remained. It does not make your hair greasy. You can still work with your hair.. it will dry the hair around it some and make it a little stiff, but you can also used that affect to your advantage to work the hair over the area while it is recovering. I alread bought a 2nd bottle, since I am still resolving this stress issue and want to heal that area completely.. have to find a new nervous habit.
Scalpicin Anti-Itch Liquid Scalp Treatment rates 4 out of 5 stars, from 19 customer reviews.a must-have!
by Josiecat[Verified Buyer] in Illinois on 3/7/09
Pros: Improves scalp condition, Reduces scalp itch
Describe Yourself: Minimalist
Best Uses: Daily Use
Hair Type: Wavy Hair
Bottom Line: recommended
I have used scalpicin for years on a daily basis to control my scalp itch. I have never been to the dermatologist, but since psoriasis runs in my family, I believe I likely have a mild case. Scalpicin, if used daily, really controls the itch, flakes, and redness of my scalp. It does smell a bit when you first put it on-mostly like alcohol, but the smell quickly goes away. It also doesn't affect the way my hair looks or smells. When I ran out of scalpicin this last time, I went to every drugstore in my area to find that no one carries this scalpicin version anywhere! The "extra-strength" version is readily available, but it is NOT to be used for longer than 7 days because of its ingredients. Luckily, drugstore.com carries scalpicin, it was on sale, [...] Yeay! I think I just might be a drugstore.com customer for life!

Scalpicin Anti-Itch Liquid Scalp Treatment rates 5 out of 5 stars, from 19 customer reviews.Works well for seborrheic dermatitis
by Nancy[Verified Reviewer] in USA on 8/7/08
Pros: Gentle, Improves Hair Health
Cons: Smells Bad
Describe Yourself: Bargain Hunter, Classic
Best Uses: Thinner Hair
Hair Type: Oily
Bottom Line: recommended
This is the best product I've found to alleviate the itching and flaking associated with seborrheic dermatitis. Not a miracle cure, but it is far more effective than all the OTC coal tar, pyrithione zinc, selenium sulfide and hydrocortisone shampoos and scalp treatments out there. Not to be confused with Scalpicin Maximum Strength, which contains hydrocortisone instead of salicylic acid. I did not find the max. strength version nearly as effective, probably because my scalp requires intensive daily exfoliation. I apply this product liberally every night to a clean scalp.
