Good -- but only at night

Bottom Line: recommended

It's funny how the reviews for Canker Cover are either extremely glowing or very negative. This is a very good product, but you have to be clear on what it is and how it works. As others have posted, the Canker Cover sticks onto the sore and gradually turns to a gel-like goo to cover it. Not to be gross, but this is probably slower for some people than others depending on the quantity and PH Balance of their saliva. You should figure that it could take up to an hour and that the patch could last as long as 10 hours or so to completely dissolve in some cases. As it's fairly obtrusive and makes it hard to talk, I strongly recommend only using this at night when you have at least 8 hours before having to speak in public. As far as effectiveness, I've definitely had less positive results than others who've posted. I find it often takes at least 3 nights of using Canker Covers to clear up the sore. In some cases, I've gone through the entire 6 Covers for one sore. However, it's definitley quicker and less painful than not using it. This is probably the best product I've tried for canker sores. For ones that you can use during the day, I'd recommend Canker-Rid or Orabase Soothe-n-Seal, both of which also cover the sore, but with a much thinner coating. Overall, a very good product, but only to be used at night or when you're going to be in the privacy of your own home for at least 8 hours.

I had my first canker sore and was in a lot of pain. I tried Zilactin and it burned when I put it on and didn't stay for very long. I typed in canker sore treatment and canker cover came up. I put it on and within about five minutes I was totally pain free. The next morning I woke up and it had reduced in size and is almost gone. The sore in front of my lower front teeth so they were constantly rubbing against the sore. The only downside, which I could handle because I wasn't in pain, was the gel kept sticking to my teeth. If I ever get one of these again, I will definitely use this product!

I'm not giving it 5 stars because yes it can get gummy and messy in your mouth - but it works. Unless the sore is in the back of my mouth I would only use these at night. But it is enough. As soon as I start to get one I cover it with a patch before I go to sleep and in two days it is gone instead of two weeks of misery - amazing! I hope drugstore.com continues to carry this product as they are hard to find in drugstores.

This took forever to turn into a gel. Definitely a lot longer than 30 minutes. After an hour I tried peeling it off because I had to go out & you could definitely see it in my mouth. Waste of money.

These are amazing! They really work. Thank god, because I've had canker sores for many, many years, and nothing really made them go away. Prior products would just ease the pain for an hour or two. These will cover it for 8 hours; you feel no pain and the sore will be gone in the morning. AWESOME!!

In my 50's I'm having more trouble with braces than my kids and grandkids did/do. These have been a godsend. There's not only relief while you wear it, but yes, the canker sore is healed after wearing them. Does stick well.

Great product. I've had awful canker sores for years. They usually last 10 days or so. It's difficult to eat or drink without pain. These patches make a shield that lasts about 8 hours so you can eat or drink anything and talk, without pain. Plus, my sore was gone after using just one patch. They are a little tricky to put on, but if you just hold it in place for a few minutes, it sticks. The directions say that there may be a burning sensation at first - well, I felt a very slight burn for less than a minute, but after that, it was amazing - NO PAIN at all. The best part was the sore went away in less than a day. This is a great product.

LOVE IT! So much better than anything else I've tried. I put the patch on before I go to bed, and in the morning I spit the rest of the gel coating out and the pain is gone!
