I'm a licensed cosmetologist, and to not be lynched by a mom of angry stylists, I'm leaving this review anonymously. Here's the facts: Fact #1: Sun-In uses a low volume hydrogen peroxide. Fact #2: Most hair colors and all lighteners use hydrogen peroxide, and most blonde shades use a much higher volume than Sun-In, therefore Sun-In is NOT going to "fry" your hair any more than traditional color. Fact #3: The difference is that Sun-In lightens your hair without depositing a color into it as it lightens, so natural "warm" pigments show through. So depending on how much natural "warm" pigments are in your hair will determine the results you'll get. It may take several applications before you've reached your perfect shade. Fact #4: Using a blow dryer on high heat will yield much more even and reliable results. Fact#5: I have been using Sun-In on my lt. brown hair for years, and my hair is soft, shiny, and no one knows I'm not a natural blonde!

This product was a NIGHTMARE...on natural light to medium brown hair this product turned it an awful shade of orange-brown or a ginger color perfect for a spice not haircolor! However a friend of mine has natural ash blonde and this gave her nice golden highlights. If your hair is darker than blonde...BEWARE!

I loved Super Sun-in, and have been using it for 20 years. I turns my medium brown hair to a really pretty golden blonde. The "original" doesn't work at all. Pretty please bring back the Super Sun-in!

My only complaint with today's version of Sun-In is that I'm pretty sure it only comes in one strength. When I first started using this product I was 12 and played soccer all day, so I figured I would take advantage of all the sun-exposure. It lightened my hair from a medium brown to a very blonde blonde that I LOVED. The bottle read "super blonde" and smelled great (in my opinion). Now that I'm 20, the Sun-In smell is minimal and the results are a bit slower, which leads me to think that the super-blonde was a higher concentration version.

I have dark blonde hair, and I agree that using this product once a month is plenty (I wouldn't even use it that much). I've been using it since I was 16 (I'm now 24) and I'm about to purchase my 3rd bottle. For those with dark or medium blonde hair, one warning: I use this product in the winter when my hair gets a bit mousy, but even if you're not using it regularly during the summer, it still makes your hair more susceptible to the sun. I got a lot of sun exposure last summer, and even though I didn't use the product at all after May, my hair lightened to almost platinum blonde by August (but even then, it maintained the multiple hues that occur in naturally blonde hair).

I've been using Sun-In for several years on my super-fine brown hair that naturally fades to red-blonde in the sun. This accelerates that fading, but leaves out the red that I really don't like at all. It has given my hair wonderful (and natural-looking) blond highlights with very little effort. And I think it works just as well in winter months as it does in summer months (if I'm not wearing a hat for the cold).

I have dark brown hair with (unnatural) bright red highlights and I love the way this makes my hair look. It gives my hair golden highlights and lightens the red highlights. It doesn't make my hair orange at all. I use a slightly different Sun-In product that conditions as well.

I've been using Sun-In for several years and have been very happy with the results. My hair color is medium brown and I use it to put really neat blondish streaks all over my head. Unfortunately it doesn't cover the gray that's beginning to make an appearance. Conditioning is important, as it is slightly drying. But I'll continue using this product until I'm forced to a salon.
