French is all about the roast. It's our darkest and boldest and not for the faint of heart. We roast the beans to their edge for a singular smoky flavor. And that's the French Roast calling card. Normally you wouldn't expect such a bang from a coffee with low acidity and virtually no body, but this is no ordinary brew. It's a delectably roasty cup, intense and uncompromising. Enjoy with: An onion bagel with chives and some lox. Our Dark Roasts. We roast coffees darker to achieve specific flavors-from subtle notes of caramelized sugar to a bold smoky taste. It takes special beans to go this dark. Anything other than dense, high-grown Arabica beans will turn to ash and leave an unpleasant finish. But when a good bean meets a skilled roaster, ah, that's something to be reckoned with. The Starbucks Roast
