Ross Pediatrics EleCare, Medical Food and Infant Formula, Powder rates 4 out of 5 stars, from 15 customer reviews. Our preemie's solution
by Momba Italiana[Verified Buyer] in San Luis Obispo, CA on 10/31/09
Pros: Keeps Well, Mixes Easily, No Constipation, No smell, Tasty
Cons: Constantly hungry, Frequent small feedings, Spit up
Describe Yourself: Parent of Two or More Children
Best Uses: Preemies
After trying all types of formulas including soy and even goat's milk, our pediatrician recommended EleCare. Even though our preemie still has some digestive problems, which we are told is common with an immature digestive tract, EleCare is by far the best formula for her. She is gaining weight, sleeping through the night, and is a happier baby. We are told she may have sensitivity to milk and may even be allergic to milk products, but EleCare breaks down the milk solids so well that she is able to tolerate it until we can start her on solids and get her off formula. For those of you who can't breast feed for whatever reason, EleCare will take away the "guilt" you might be feeling. The only downside of this formula is the price, but it's only for her first year of life and she is definitely worth it!

Pros: Keeps Well, Mixes Easily, Smells bad but great
Describe Yourself: First Time Parent
Best Uses: Infants, Milk allerigies
Bottom Line: recommended
we tried every formula before Elecare...it is the only formula that helped our child. Buying from drugstore.com helps to keep the cost down, which if you are buying elecare, you know is very expensive - especially in retail stores.

My 5 month old has numular excema. We have tried all the formulas on the market and this is one that he will actually eat. (non milk based ) Too early to tell if taking milk protiens out of his formula is going to help, but at least we have an alternative. The cost is quite pricey is the only down side.

This is the only formula that works on my 3 month old baby. Neocate caused constipation and discomfort. I've been using Elecare for over a month and it's working great! I love it!

Unfortunately, EleCare is extremely expensive, however, I am thankful for finding this on drugstore.com. So far, this is the most cost effective and trustworthly distributor of EleCare that I have found. [...]I am the mother of three and my youngest two are 8 month old twins. One of the twins has suffered from extreme foumula intolerance. After about two weeks of being on EleCare, he was a completely different baby. He is now happy and smiley. I am very grateful for EleCare.

Elecare is the only formula my daughter would tolerate due to multiple food allergies. She didn't seem to mind the taste and transitioned easily from breastmilk to elecare and back to breastmilk. The only con is that it is SO expensive.
