but the pads that rest between my teeth were not thick enough to actually keep me from clenching. They also rested in part on the back of my tongue and would trigger a gag reflex. It seemed to fit better when I tried it upside down (with the strap on my top teeth rather than the bottom). But overall I couldn't wear it. I am not sure I could wear any device though that touches my tongue.

Some people seem to be able to tolerate it though, so it must be very particular to the individual. The company will offer replacements in order to get the right fit. Maybe I will try that. I don't have hopes though. The design just isn't something that will work for me. I don't think getting one of the larger devices will change that.

The Sleep Right Slim Comfort is a flexible and minimal mouth guard. On each end there is a vertical piece of plastic that goes between your cheek and your teeth. Attached to that is a horizontal piece that adjusts forward and backward to some extent for more precise placement between molars or up to the canines. Both the vertical and horizontal pieces are not as slim as I wished, but it is still less bulk than having one of the heat-molded devices in my mouth. Holding the two ends together is a very thin and flexible soft plastic band that is designed to fit between your bottom lip and bottom teeth. I ended up using mine upside down because it seems more comfortable that way, although the front strap usually ends up between my top and bottom lip and not against my teeth at all. Yawning feels dangerous if the front strap is not securely between your lip and gum because the whole mouth guard is not attached to your mouth and could drop to your throat, although I can't imagine that you would actually choke. After a few nights I was able to sleep with this mouth guard, unlike a hot-water-molded type I had purchased which was just too much bulk in my mouth. I would prefer is this one was thinner at the actual guard part which separates the teeth. This one may not work well if you open and close your teeth because it may shift, but for just plain clenching it seems fine.

This is a great solution for those with bruxism and either cant afford or cant sleep with a professional dentist's mouthguard. I happen to fall into both categories. Buying from drugstore.com is very conveneint and cost effective, especially when you use the order/reorder & save option. Which is a smart choice for this item because they do wear out after a few months. But its the most comfortable mouth guard ive tried, and ive tried half a dozen. even the prof dentist mouthguard was less comfortable (and not to mention 20x the price!) of course the prof one would last years, but hey this is the best solution.

I've been using OTC mouthguards at night for about 4 years now, because I clench my jaw and grind my teeth in my sleep. I bought this because it was slightly cheaper than DenTak mouthguards. But it didn't stay in place at night (probably because it's not fitted to your mouth). Less than 2 weeks after using it, the tabs that fit between your top and bottom teeth (which are supposed to keep your teeth from grinding) broke off, making the whole thing useless.

This was the worst guard I have ever purchased. It did not last two weeks. I have grind straight through it. I am furious it cost so much to me and was not worth two cents.

my first $500 bite guard from the dentist was rigid plastic & somehow gave me claustrophobia when i wore it. this guard is flexible and rests between upper & lower jaws; somehow it seems to stay put even though it doesn't 'click' in. after a few nights re-adjusting size - a great feature, by the way - i'm feeling like it's definitely helping my clenching problem.

I can't seem to keep this nightguard in my mouth while I sleep. if you have this problem, you may want to go with the regular version rather than the smaller "low profile" one. However, it is a much cheaper alternative to the nightguards you can purchase through your dentist. Overall, a pretty decent product.

I really like the low profile SleepRight guard. I have to replace mine every so often, but that's to be expected due to the grinding. I'm just happy to be wearing away the night guard instead of my teeth. Great product!

I have been sleeping with this guard for over a year. I have to replace them every 6 months or so due to my clenching, but this is the best one I have used. My headaches are gone, and I have not broken a tooth since using it.

Finally a night guard that I can use!!! I have used 3 different kinds of mouth guards to help with my clenching and grinding, and I would just spit them out while I slept. This one I leave in, and I finally have relief from my headaches and jaw pain.
