My last three dentists insisted I use Listerine to keep my gums healthy. My new dentist says the alcohol in Listerine is not so good because it dries my mouth out (which I never noticed, but anyway...). He recommended this Crest Pro-Health Rinse. Well, I tried this product for a year. My gums reverted to their swollen, bleeding ways. I thought maybe I wasn't flossing enough, and made a concerted effort to up my flossing. Still the fat gums bled. I switched back to Listerine, and lo and behold, my gums are better. This Crest stuff just doesn't help the gums enough. Sorry. (I didn't tell my dentist. But he did notice my better gums this last semiannual checkup!!)

I like everything about this mouthwash, except it bubbles up fast when gargling. I'm pregnant, so I don't want to use anything with alcohol and this is the brand I've found I like the best under those circumstances. I will probably go back to my favorite brand that does have alcohol in it when I am no longer pregnant.

I switched from Listerine to Crest Pro-Health moutwash a little over two months ago because I had seen the advertisments and liked the idea of a mouthwash without the burn of alchohol. Just about a week after I started using the product I noticed my bottom teeth had began to turn dark brown. A few days later my top teeth started getting stains as well. I don't smoke and only drink one cup of coffee a day, so I couldn't figure out why this was happening. Then about three weeks into use I had to have a tooth surgically removed. This wasn't the first time I had this procedure done, but it was by far the longest and most painful recovery I have ever had. My gums, even on the opposite side of my mouth from the extraction, were WHITE and so sore I couldn't even eat soft foods without pain. This has been going on for almost six weeks now without any improvement. Unfortantley I have been using the mouthwash MORE thinking it would help ward off infection and speed up the healing process.
