As important as a styptic pencil is, I was quite surprised the other day when my 'old-trusty' styptic pencil was practically gone and I managed to cut my neck 'quite well'. The alum bar was useless, cold compresses did little to curb the bleeding, and I practically exhausted what was left of my styptic pencil to stop oozing from the cut. What was more surprising was no pharmacy departments in any of the local big box stores had any in stock! So I ordered three 1 ounce sticks from Drugstore.com. I'm good for the duration now!

I am a man who shaves nearly every single day. I have hair that grows in many different directions, requiring several passes, and I will end up with a nick or two a couple times a week, especially if I'm in a hurry. I used to be a person who would just put some toilet paper on there and wait for it to clot. Not any more.

This styptic pencil stops bleeding almost instantly. Just wet it, dab it on the nick, and let it dry. It clots quickly every single time. There is just a quick sting right when you dab it, but the quick clotting is more than worth it. After it dries, you can rinse the remaining white powder off and the nick should stay clotted. Then just follow up with the aftershave and you're ready to go.

The longest this has taken me was less than 2 minutes after the end of the shave. Sometimes I've had to wait close to 10 minutes before a cut would fully clot. This thing is awesome. Also, the plastic tube it comes in is perfect for protecting the pencil from getting wet or breaking if you would toss it in a bag for a trip. And the price here is the best I found anywhere for the 1oz size, and I got it in 2 days with free Shoprunner shipping.

This was part of my first batch of purchases when entering the world of wetshaving and for the price, it can't be beat. There's a quick sting after you apply it to your cut, but soothing afterwards, and is a better way to stop bleeding than dabs of toilet paper. Like another review mentioned, its a bit messy to use since the entire pencil is exposed, which is tricky since you need to wet the tip, but one quick work around is to wrap it in some foil or something else as a buffer. Also, be sure to let it dry properly after use and not just bottle it right up after your shave.

All the Clubman products I have used are of good quality. This one does it's job with a large rounded edge.

This fell apart the first time I used it! And I noticed afterward that it didn't even work. I guess it's cheap for a reason...

I used this to stop minor skin irritations or minor cuts from bleeding on the face area. It helped the skin and stopped the bleeding. However the Container it comes in needs to be improved.

I grew up watching my dad use these things and finally decided my husband should try one after seeing him walk out of the bathroom with 4 small pieces of toilet paper around his neck!! He seems to like it and it works, so good purchase!
