I have seasonal allergies as well as what I'd call severe nasal drip brought on by pollen, cat hair, dust, etc. Actifed as it was originally formulated, with triprolidine 2.5mg and pseudoephedrine 60 mg, worked wonders for my allergies. This medication with this formulation is the only thing that can turn off my nose-faucet when my symptoms are really bad. Pfizer decided they'd take their stab at stemming the methamphetamine-abuse crisis by reformulating Actifed. The bottom line: the new formulation is useless -- for me, anyway. Don't be duped by the shiny box and the name Actifed. If you buy this product in the US, you will get the new, useless formulation. If you want the original formulation -- the only combo that works -- you can buy it online from various Canadian pharmacies. Go Canada.

I am a LONG time allergy sufferer and this was what was prescribed to me by my physician afters years of shots. I have been taking this long enough to know that it is the ONLY thing that works for me (over 20 years). I was thrilled when it became an "over-the-counter" drug so I didn't have to make so many trips to the doctors office. I would highly recommend this drug for allergies. Please note: You will get a bit sleepy if you are not used to taking allergy medicine, but you will wake up feeling like you can breathe better than ever.

I will buy this product again.

Why not make this a prescription drug like it used to be years ago? I have severe hay fever and when I was in my 20's an allergy specialist prescribe this for me. I am now 51 and I am having really bad allergy problems (again) ever since they change the formula. Back in the day I could get this for 90 days for a little as a co-pay. Then they took it over the counter and started charging high prices for it.....but as long as it was the orighinal formula I paid for it.

I'm not sure what the "old" formula was or how this is different from it, but I like this product. I have SEVERE allergies and have tried ever brand on the market. I have use Actifed regularly on top of my daily zyrtec when my allergies get really bad. This is effective and most importantly, it's totally non-drowsy!

i purchased the new actifed by accident.my order was 6 boxes,i gave away all but the one i opened. i did not try to return them because i feel it was my mistake in not researching the product.i had no idea there was a new actifed,i am used to the original formula.if not actifed i use a generic equivalant if one is available. this product did not decrease my waterfall nose drip.it did make me feel irratable and edge or maybe i just became that way when i recieved no relief by using the product.

Echoing others, this new formula no longer works. They changed both of the active ingredients! As a sidenote, I've found that I can order the original formula online from some of the Canadian pharmacies. Not cheap for that route, but this was a good product and I found it to be most effective compared to other antihistimines.

I agree that it's such a shame that the old formula is gone. You can't even get it behind the counter at the drugstore. This new formula does not deserve the name "Actifed".
