†Dentists have been recommending Sensodyne® toothpaste for over 20 years. Brushing twice a day with Sensodyne® toothpaste helps build a "shield of protection" against painful sensitivity. And, since Sensodyne® toothpaste has fluoride, it helps protect against cavities too.
Indications
Builds increasing protection against painful sensitivity of the teeth to cold, heat, acids, sweets, or contact, and aids in the prevention of dental cavities.
Warnings
If pain/sensitivity still persists after 4 weeks of use, please visit your dentist. Stop use and ask a dentist if the problem persists or worsens. Sensitive teeth may indicate a serious problem that may need prompt care by a dentist.
Keep out of reach of children. If more than used for brushing is accidentally swallowed, get medical help or contact a Poison Control Center right away.

I'm willing to deal with that to get the sensitivity and tartar control benefits. Taste takes some getting used to, but after all, this is toothpaste, not candy.

My teeth are very sensitive to cold, so I decided to try Sensodyne. I purchased "Sensodyne Maximum Strength with Fluoride Tartar control plus Whitening". Besides the toothpaste I had purchased from my dentist, this was most I had ever spent on a tube of toothpaste. I was not happy with this product. It tasted so bad I didn't even want to brush my teeth! This is just the worst tasting toothpaste I have ever tried! I'm not sure if it helps with sensitivity or not, I just could not get past the BAD taste! I used it about four times, but it's just awful!

I have incredibly sensitive teeth. I'm not sure if Sensodyne has any cumulative benefits, but I'm not willing to take a chance. Any effort I can make to reduce sensitivity is worth the cost to me. I use this twice a day along with my Sonicare brush.
