I had used bar soap, sensitive skin formula shave creams and was always lacking the perfect lather, texture or feel once done shaving, until I purchased this soap. It melted easily (although had a STRONG odor after melting) and poured into the shave soap bowl. It feels great going on and for the first time in years I have truely enjoyed trying a new product based on other reviews..

Van Der Hagen's Deluxe cake provides great lubricity and has a nice scent. It's reasonable in cost and IT MELTS! I have a stainless steel "travel mug", about 3" in diameter, but very shallow. The cake, as purchased, rattles around in the mug and is too high for the short side of the mug. Lather goes everywhere. However, this stuff can be nuked in your microwave (carefully) and poured into the mug. It'll take the shape of the bottom of the mug and adhere. None of the performance characteristics of the soap are altered. Perfect.
