Before using broiler, completely remove stove knob covers. This product is only a deterrent. It is not a substitute for proper adult supervision. Discontinue use when child becomes old enough to defeat it.
These stopped my two year old form turning on the gas, and in the beginning he loved to spin them. They now no longer interest him and it stopped a whole world of worry for me!
The product concept is great, and the covers are constructed well. Installation was easy, and the covers seemed secure around the knobs. However, as soon as I opened my over door for the first time, the cover (which drops down slightly once installed) flew off completely with the knob still inside, and fell inside the hot oven. I was able to get it out before it melted, but I would think about how close the knobs are to the oven door before purchasing this product. It did not work for us.
The knob guards work wonderfully. My 21 month old loves pushing buttons and turning knobs and these really help to deter him from the knobs on the stove. He has finally realized that they are not "fun" since he can't get to them and has completely left them alone. I love these things!
Open the cover of each store knob cover by holding the base with one hand, pressing in on the grey grip tab with your other thrum, and then lifting up the clear cover.
Place one stove knob cover over each post of the stove and replace your stove knob over the post. Push down firmly on the knob to be sure it is seated properly on the post.
Close the clear cover of the stove knob cover until you hear a distinctive "click" of the latch tab. Test by pulling up on the clear cover to be sure it is snapped securely in place.
To access the stove know, press the grey grip tab and lift the cover.
To Clean: Wash in warm, soapy water and dry with a soft cloth.
