I'm 56 and I've been getting cold sores since I was a kid. My last outbreak was 2 weeks ago and was particularly bad. As soon as I felt it starting I used Zovirax (an anti-viral prescription drug) for a few days and it didn't help. Then I switched to Abreva. It just got worse and actually spread into a few more small cold sores. In desperation I bought HerpecinL and got immediate relief. It really soothed the sores and helped my lips which were very dry and cracked by this time from all the meds. Within a few days the cold sores were gone. I've been using it every day and night since and my lips have never been softer or in better shape re not being chapped in the winter time. I'll never be without it. And ps - the white is easily covered by lipgloss or lipstick. But even using it alone it absorbs into the lips pretty quickly and the white color disappears.

For many, many years I have used Herpecin L. I just recently bought two new tubes of it. I have had fever blisters for as long as I can remember, but since I found the Herpecin L I haven't had one at all. At the first tingle that tells me that one is coming, I start using it, and it never breaks out. This time, it DID NOT work. It broke out and now as broken open and has become a typical fever blister, with oozing and pain. I compared the ingredients in an old tube and a new tube, and find that they are completely different. Why would you take a product that works every time and change to ingredients that don't work at all? Please put back the Padimate O and the Allantoin. I don't think I'll be using this product any longer.

I have suffered with cold sores since my teens and usually I have to wait until it clears up on its own. A few months ago, I purchased Herpecin lip balm because I had a cold sore that was almost cleared up. Two days ago, I felt that familiar tingle of another cold sore coming on so I applied the lip balm to the area and by the next morning, the sore was gone. This is the best product ever to come on the market for treating fever blisters and cold sores.

Using this product daily has prevented my previously frequent cold sores. If I happen to get a "hot spot" (rarely), I just begin using this every couple of hours during the day and in a couple of days, cold sore is gone before it develops. Great product!

The Chapstick with which I grew up felt good going on, but seemed to do nothing after that. Herpecin, on the other hand, both feels good going on and continues to soothe for hours after that. It also now has a sunblock in it, making it great for outdoor use.

Love this product. Leave a tube in my handbag, car, desk, kitchen, & at my bedside during the winter months. Prevents lips from cracking from winter cold & damage from the sun.

Nice; very emollient; soothing; I'm not sure how effective it is for preventing cold sores, as I still get them from time to time. Very healing for severely chapped, cracked lips.

i bought this product because i read where some people had relief from eczema while using it. i get eczema on my lips and around my lips, and in the corner of my mouth, this lip balm has helped it tremendously!

Hubby & I have used for 20 years now both for chapped lips & cold sores. KEY: At the first tingling of a cold sore, apply several times and 99% out of 100% sore will be stopped in its tracks. Never fails.
