Price too high by Maddizz in Silver Spring Maryland on 7/29/09Pros: Effective Protection, Sweatproof, UVA/UVB Protection, Waterproof Describe Yourself: Budget Buyer Best Uses: Daily Use Bottom Line: not recommended Price is too much. Less at Target. Would not buy online again.

Skin saver by Syd in Miami, FL on 5/17/09Pros: Effective Protection, Not Greasy, UVA/UVB Protection Bottom Line: recommended Over spring break I went skiing in Colorado. I knew to take sunscreen but i thought i wouldn't get any sun because i'd be covered up to whole time. The first day i used coppertone and got really pink. It was a combo of sunburn and windburn. My friend let me use this the next day and my complexion was back to normal! Love it
This is NOT non-comedogenic! by BleatingGoat in Denver, CO on 4/30/09Pros: Effective Protection Cons: Causes breakouts, Greasy or Heavy, Runs Easily, White streaks Bottom Line: not recommended I agree with a lot of the other reviewers on this - it definitely clogs pores and causes breakouts! It seems to work in terms of sun protection (at least for a few hours outdoors, which is all I've used it for)... but I suffer the consequences in terms of acne for days afterwards! It has a greasy, heavy feel and if it gets anywhere near your eyes, it burns your eyes like crazy. I've started putting it only on my cheeks and nose, basically, and nowhere higher because it just ends up running into my eyes.
Don't waste your $$$ by Amanda Kaye in Portland, Oregon on 12/21/08Pros: Non-comedogenic, Rubs In Well, UVA/UVB Protection Cons: Greasy or Heavy, Runs Easily Describe Yourself: Brand Buyer Best Uses: Beach, Swimming Bottom Line: not recommended This product among some of the other sunscreens out there have no reason to be on the shelves! If you want a really great sun lotion don't let the labels fool you- making you think that a SPF 80 sunscreen is much better and has way more protection as an SPF 50. They are exactly the same! If you buy this SPF 70 product your over doing it! I got 2 really bad burns this summer at the beach and in my son's back yard playing catch. We tried another sun lotion "Neutrogena Sunblock, Ultra Sheer Dry-Touch SPF 35 " and it was great.... no burns at all..... almost no repeats of application! And it was[$] cheaper! Good Luck shopping!
Truly "dry touch!" by Former sunscreen non-user in New York, NY on 11/20/08Pros: Not Greasy Best Uses: Daily Use I don't like greasy lotions or creams for my face and used to hate putting on sunscreen. But, now thanks to this stuff, I am happy to put on sunscreen every morning. I first wash my face, then use Neutrogena's anti-wrinkle retin-a product, moisturize my body while my face absorbs the retin-a, then I apply this sunscreen. I use Bare Ecscentals minerals for a foundation and have found that this makes for a nice base. My skin feels light all day and as if I have nothing on! I highly recommend this product.
Effective, but not perfect absorbtion by Avoiding skin cancer in Saint Paul, MN on 9/26/08Pros: Effective Protection, Sweatproof, UVA/UVB Protection Best Uses: Daily Use, Sports I try to apply sunscreen to my neck and arms everyday. This one wins big points for good protection, but it does leave minor white film that sometimes shows and sometimes flakes or rubs off. It is superb for sports protection, but not as perfect for the everyday application I had hoped.
Ouch! by hvt in Baltimore, MD on 9/2/08Pros: UVA/UVB Protection, Waterproof Cons: Difficult to rub in, Not Effective, Stings Describe Yourself: Quality Oriented Best Uses: Beach, Daily Use, Sports, Swimming Bottom Line: not recommended Ouch! This stung our faces something terrible swimming in the ocean. It also ran into my eyes while running and stung them terribly. I'll never put this on my face again.
I'm not 100% sure this actually offers any SPF protection at all. Either we sweated it off while sightseeing in the Caribbean, or it doesn't offer much sun protection. At SPF 70, you'd think you wouldn't burn, especially if you tend to tan... but we did anyway.
The product is also kind of difficult to apply, not because it sits on top of the skin, but it simply doesn't spread easily. You need to use twice as much sunblock as you normally would just to properly cover your skin. It also feels greasy when you enter the water, which makes me wonder if it's even getting absorbed into the skin.
We really preferred Banana Boat's Ultra Defense over this stuff, and at the price difference, we'll stick with that.
Not for face by Skin fanatic in MA on 8/28/08Cons: Greasy or Heavy, Not Effective, Runs Easily Describe Yourself: Quality Oriented Bottom Line: not recommended I was too excited to see the higher SPF like other reviews had stated. I had purchased this product for a beach trip to Cancun hoping that the light weight condition will make it suitable for a hot climate. The first day, I put this on for a day on the beach. The sunscreen was sticky and did not have the ultra dry sheer touch it boasts. When I did take a dip in the ocean, the sunscreen ran into my eyes and was extremely painful. I flushed my eyes out with an eye wash but the damage was done. My eyes were swollen for the rest of trip. I would also mention that my face was extremely burned. I would not recommend this product for the face or those with sensitive skin, perhaps for your body.
Clown makeup by SusieShopper in NYC on 8/27/08Cons: Greasy or Heavy, Not Effective, White streaks Describe Yourself: Quality Oriented Bottom Line: not recommended I've been using this on the recommendation of my dermatologist, but I have to see whether I can find something else. I'm really fair, but this left white streaks all over--I look like a deranged clown. I put this on, get dressed, wipe the white streaks it leaves on my clothing off, and do a streak patrol. By the time I get to work, MORE white streaks have appeared. And on top of it all, it doesn't seem to work--my chest still burns in only 20 minutes. I know I'm white, but that should be impossible with 70 SPF. |
