I discarded a 'bath chair' product in favor of this item. My first one is next to the bed for nighttime needs, the second is my much more useful 'shower seat', and the third is hiding in a walk-in closet off the living room. I move so slowly that a five- to ten-minute round trip to the bathroom is really boring, so I'd rather have a commode handy! and a garage utility cart makes the rounds each day to transport buckets (carrying is difficult for me). These don't get wobbly, don't rust, don't anything except do just what they should. Great value!

This device is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! It is very durable and highly adaptable. It can either be used as a standing, stationary commode, or the commode barrel can be removed, then the height easily adjusted, and the entire unit [less the commode barrel] placed over an existing toilet. This configuration allows the patient to sit on a commode seat that is as high as is comfortable for that patient. In my case I keep it just a bit higher than my knees; this helps me because of open-heart surgery -- I am able to get onto and off of the device without straining the muscles and tissue in and around the original surgical field [heart surgery patients know exactly what I mean here -- there is a great deal of "incisional pain" that lingers after open-heart procedures]. As a male, this device allows for the patient to create a 5-point-stand [oreven a 6-point-stand]. This is accomplished by bracing the inside of his knees against the legs of it, and then place a "straight-arm" []or both for a 6-point-stand] onto one [or both] of the arm-rests when standing to urinate. This is extremely helpful if, like me, the patient is unsteady on his feet. Standing allows for better urinary elimination [due to gravity acting more fully on the bladder] for men. The capacity of this device is 300 pounds, and I have not had to test it at that level, but it is a God-send for those of us that can use it. THANK YOU, INVACARE!!! Stephen Burnett
