Indications
on chest and throat, temporarily relieves cough due to common cold
on muscles and joints, temporarily relieves minor aches and pains
Warnings
For external use only; avoid contact with eyes. Ask a doctor before use if you have cough that occurs with too much phlegm (mucus), persists or chronic cough such as occurs with smoking, asthma or emphysema. When using this product, do not heat, microwave, add to hot water or any container where heating hot water. May cause splattering and result in burns. Stop use and ask a doctor if muscle aches and pains persist more than 7 days or come back, cough lasts more than 7 days, comes back, or occurs with fever, rash, or persistent headache. These could be signs of a serious condition. If pregnant or breast- feeding, ask a health professional before use. Keep out of reach of children. If swallowed, get medical help or contact a Poison Control Center right away.

I've used Vicks for years, but only for congestion for either colds or allergies. Lately someone mentioned that menthol was good for joint aches. I smashed my ankle years ago and have now developed the gift of predicting the weather. I've used everything from Tiger Balm to Arnica and nothing seems to bring relief. My husband has a bad shoulder and is always looking for help. Anyway, when this person mentioned menthol I immediately thought of the Jar of Vicks. Tried it and it worked. What a relief!

Used as a child, adult and mother. Better breathing at night, better sleep for little ones and adults. Also, found that a skin(yeast)irritation in a humid climate can be healed faster if applied to clean skin morning and night. Easier than trying to keep the area dry and powdered (which often turns gummy).

I agree with others that the smell is not quite as strong and the salve is a little softer (maybe not quite as greasy) I call that improving the formula. On the other hand, you may go through the jar faster than the old stuff but, I just watch and realized I don't need to use as much. I use at night along with Breathe Right strips to help my sleep. Works Great! BONUS: I found that skin irritations (sometimes happens under my breasts in the summer) goes away much faster when I use Vicks along with a dry cloth.

Have this smallest size handy by my bedside and in guest bedroom, especially during the winter months. Great for promoting/facilitating breathing when congested with head colds. I rub a small amount over sinus areas and/or at opening of nostrils to promote smooth breathing when congested. Great for healing small skin abrasions, too. This product has been a fave in our family, for three generations!
See important warnings under " When using this product". Adults and children 2 years and over: rub a thick layer on chest and throat or rub on sore aching muscles. Cover with a warm, dry cloth if desired. Keep clothing loose about throat/ chest to help vapors reach the nose/ mouth. Repeat up to three times per 24 hours or as directed by doctor. Children under 2 years of age: ask a doctor.
