I live in East Texas and the humidity is brutal. I often work outside all day in the summer and developed a skin fungus. When I went to the Doctor, his comment was "Welcome to Texas!". Anyway, he recommended a home remedy of coating myself in Selsun Blue before bed. This did not work not to mention it stunk and burned the "tender parts". I tried Pine Tar soap and it CURED the problem. I use it all the time now. I like the odor but some may find it too smokey.

I had high hopes for this product after reading the reviews. I developed the PUPPPs rash when I was about 7 months pregnant, and since I didn't feel good about using prescription creams long-term I was looking for a more natural product to treat the itching. After a week of use, my rash had not only gotten worse - redder and bumpier - but had spread to new areas. In addition, the rest of my skin that was not covered in the rash was becoming unbearably itchy and dry. I switched back to a regular natural soap and felt some relief within hours. I would still recommend trying this, as it's inexpensive and has obviously worked for so many others, but sadly it did not work for me. A note about the smell: after you get used to it, it's really not that bad. It almost smelled more in my bathroom cabinet before I started using it than it did in the soapdish after use. As an experiment I did not tell my husband about it, to see if he noticed the tar smell, and he never said a word.

I have used this off and on for most of my 62 years. I use it for any skin or scalp problem or if a "deep cleansing" is needed over all. The woodsy aroma brings pleasant memories. We have used it for bug bites, to remove critters like ticks, fleas, chiggers and to prepare for fishing, camping or just gardening and yard work; it can treat poison ivy, oak, sumac. Even some spiders don't like the smell of pine tar. Meantime I have learned an important fact about natural healing. A phenomena know as "retracing" occurs when the body is healing. It appears that the problem gets WORSE for a short time. This is always followed by healing and curing. So be patient and allow your body to take the steps to cure the problem. MEJ, OHIO,USA

I had really dry elbows and could never remember to use any kind of lotion to help. My wife saw this soap in a local health food/product store and read the box and decided to bring it home for me to try. I've has been using it ever since. My elbows are as soft as a baby's behind. I love the clean, fresh smell. I'm in my 60's and it reminds me of my youth.

Hunter's and hikers and outdoors types! this is YOUR product. the soap has a strong, tar like, smoke like smell to the raw soap but lathers well. but the real kicker is FLEAS AND TICKS HATE THIS SOAP. whenever you come in from a long day hunting or camping or hiking etc... take a shower with this stuff and small parasitic insects you probably never knew where there will literally jump off of your body as if they are completely repulsed! my dog had fleas once very badly from an outdoor jaunt, and because he had them... my wife and i eventually got them. We consider ourselves to be clean hygienic types and we were both disgusted yet AMAZED at how many of them jumped off of him (and us) when we bathed with this soap in the shower. it was as if someone was sprinkling pepper on the shower floor! though it was a pretty disgusting site, his flea problem (and mine) was licked cold almost overnight. now i use it before i plan on doing any long term outdoor activities, hiking, camping or hunting etc. this soap is great! just bought 10 bars!

I am 7 months pregnant now. Few weeks ago I had a horrible rash on my belly and it extended to my legs and back...my husband found this soap on drugstore and said it is worthy of trying. I got one and started to use it. The smell is natural, more importantly it fixed the rash on my belly. Thank you everyone who recommended this soap. This was my first time writing a product review.

Using the soap as just soap it was nothing to write home about. The smell is kinda funky but leaves your body quickly. The best use for this that I stumbled upon is for a shaving soap. I used this instead of shaving gel in a pinch and have never looked back. I use to get razor burn on my neck but since I have started using this I have not. If you have razor burn problems that you just can't get rid of by using fancy creams and gels put down a few bucks on this and give it a try. It really paid off for me!
