Unfortunately during the first Gulf War I contracted an un-curable skin fungal ailment called Tinea Versicolor and after years of un-sucessful treatments including, anti-fungal meds, leaving selsun blue on the skin overnight, and topical anti fungals it was continually worsening and continuing tp plague me and keep me scratching with visible sign even in the winter. (This ailment increases greatly in the heat and when you sweat).
I still take an oral anti-fungal in the summer but this soap alone keeps me itch free with no visible sign of the rash almost year round. I just shower with it normally. Great Stuff and I really like the smell which does not stay with you after showering.
I've been using this for almost 2 years now and waited to give this review to see if like many other solutions it worked great short term then the rash comes back with a vengence. It didn't and the soap seems to do a great job keeping it that way.

I had high hopes for this product after reading the reviews. I developed the PUPPPs rash when I was about 7 months pregnant, and since I didn't feel good about using prescription creams long-term I was looking for a more natural product to treat the itching. After a week of use, my rash had not only gotten worse - redder and bumpier - but had spread to new areas. In addition, the rest of my skin that was not covered in the rash was becoming unbearably itchy and dry. I switched back to a regular natural soap and felt some relief within hours. I would still recommend trying this, as it's inexpensive and has obviously worked for so many others, but sadly it did not work for me.
A note about the smell: after you get used to it, it's really not that bad. It almost smelled more in my bathroom cabinet before I started using it than it did in the soapdish after use. As an experiment I did not tell my husband about it, to see if he noticed the tar smell, and he never said a word.

I had skin problems years ago and my doctor suggested trying Grandpa's Pine Tar soap. It cleared everything up and kept my skin so clean and moisturizer that I'm still using it years later. Yes, it makes the bathroom smell a little bit like a shipyard when the soap is first opened because of the pine tar, but my family has gotten used to that. I've tried other prettier-smelling soaps and nothing works like this one.

The best product I've found for my sensitive skin. Most sensitive skin cleansers don't really leave me feeling clean like Grandpa's does. Yes, it smells a little like pine tar, especially when the bar is first opened, but that smell doesn't linger on my skin. This product is really worth the money.

My husband has mild psoriasis, as well as very sensitive skin that tends to break out with most soaps. He had been using a soap that cost 3x as much, and this works just as well, if not better. This soap did not cause him to break out, and while it did not completely heal the psoriasis, there is some definite improvement. The scent isn't fantastic, but it's also not unbearable, and it fades pretty quickly. Overall, we were pleased with the purchase, and I've recommended it to a few friends who have skin issues, already!

I like old fashion products from back in the day so I thought my husband would like this soap...the bar smelled so bad in the house, we had to get rid of it. I didn't even open the box to start using...he didn't want to smell that way during the day either. Sorry, really wanted to like.

This certainly has a pungent scent, like a smokey pine smell reminiscent of a damp campfire. I love the smell of campfire, so it wasn't too big of a deal for me, but those who aren't used to it might find the smell offensive. Most importantly though, it works. I noticed that it gets me clean without making me feel dry. It's moisturizing, but I don't feel a weird film when I get out of the shower. Squeaky clean!

Glad to finally find something thats natural, american made, inexpensive, and effective in dealing with exzema. Ive recommended this to everyone I know. Grandpa's doesnt smell like perfume but when treating exzema most products dont. The "unique" smell is so worth it! Even my son's pediatrician was amazed at the results. We saw a difference within a week.
