Pros: Easy Storage, Lightweight, Safe, Sturdy
Describe Yourself: Tire easily
Best Uses: Elderly, Following Surgery, If you tire easily
Primary use: Personal
Bottom Line: recommended
I bought two of these; one for my 80 year old mother and she loves it. She has a rare autoimmune disorder and is exhausted nearly every day and spend all day in bed because of this. I mean, she makes 5 minute oatmeal and a cup of tea and goes back to bed. So bathing is a big issue. Sometimes she's so weak she can't wash her hair and her body in one day and has to do them on separate days. This has really, really helped her. She can sit down and rest. She can easily shave her legs; she loves it and uses it. I bought another for my aunt and uncle, who is 97 and sometimes incontinent. My 83 year old aunt has to bathe him often and it helps her so much. It's more comfortable for him and she can lift him easier from the chair that from the tub and he can rest while she bathes him. I have a similar chair for me. I have Epstein-Barr (mononucleosis) and am tired a lot. I'm only 52, but I use this chair in the bath and also so I can sit and dry my hair and put my makeup on. It's a winner in my opinion!
Duro-Med Bath Seat Adjustable without Back rates 3 out of 5 stars, from 2 customer reviews.Wobbly when raised on higher setting
by Kay[Verified Buyer] in US on 7/22/09
Pros: Lightweight
Cons: Flimsy
Best Uses: Following Surgery
Primary use: Personal
The seat itself seems very sturdy and I think this would work fine if you don't have to raise the legs to the highest setting. I put it at second to last peg so I don't have to bend too much when sitting after surgery but it is a bit wobbly and legs are not that strong when set at higher pegs. I am planning to write the company about it, as it has good reviews otherwise but setting on higher setting shouldn't be weak. I'm not a heavy person either so I can't imagine someone who is larger sitting on it when pegs are set high.
