I am not a diabetic but diabetes runs in my family, and I was told by my doctor to watch for my blood sugar, that's why i got this monitor to monitor my blood sugar. I take the reading about once a week. It's very useful that I don't have to wait for the next blood test ordered by the doctor to find out how my blood sugar is.
The meter I purchased does not have a port to download the meter readings. This is how I communicate with my Dr between office visits. For this reason I am not very happy.
It needs a much larger sample than the last one I had and even though the monitor may be smaller, it's not by much. It also takes longer to start up and I don't like the way the test strips are packaged. I'll be buying another freestyle when I use these strips.
Love it except for the bulk and easy-spill testing strip vial. Looks like the vials 35mm film comes in. What's the point of the gadget being "small and portable" if the test strip vial is not? Works really fast, though.
The machine itself is great, very fast, very portable, very reliable, and the colors are great. The strips are packaged in bulky little vials, and need some work. If opened and accidentally spilled, say, in a public restroom, you lose the whole vial.
