The 1000mg tablets are a better buy than the 500's. What I do is cut them in half , but since it leaves a jagged edge that can catch in the throat, cut each of those in half again, making two easier-to-swallow smaller pieces for 1/2 gram. I have been doing this for quite some time (with a pill cutter available at any drugstore) now, since there is no sense in paying a lot more for the smaller pills that used to be available as part of another chain's store brand, but was discontinued after several years. Then this product that actually comes from the Ester-C company started appearing on vitamin shelves everywhere. i later found out that they made a decision to market it differently. Anyway, I have been using this form of vitamin C for almost 20 years now upon learning that, while costlier, it was supposed to be better absorbable and perhaps multiple times more potent than the regular kind. There is some dispute about this, yet even before we heard of Ester C, there were reports that buffered C, as calcium ascorbate, also had such an advantage in addition to alleviating any stomach problems with large amounts of ascorbic acid. How much more of it than than the minimum requirement can we actually benefit from without just paying for more expensive urine? There is reason to believe the answer is some number of grams per day like most other mammals are able to make automatically. Primates must get it from the environment -or die of scurvy- where it would have been in abundant supply before moving away from the tropical areas where human life originated. Anyone interested in the ultimate theory on this idea should search for The Healing Factor by Irwin Stone. It could be one of the most important things ever written over thirty years ago and largely ignored except by the relatively fortunate few of us more likely to be alert to radical alternative health information.

i've always liked ester-c. it's easy on the stomach and absolutely boosts the immune system and keeps me away from the cold, flu etc ... ever since the global flu shots shortage a few years ago, i have stopped taking the annual flu shot, and instead loaded up on ester-c during the flu season. the product hasn't failed me. only wish i read the label carefully and purchased the capsule instead of tablet type.

Pros: Produces Results
Describe Yourself: First Time User, Regular User
Best Uses: Daily Use, Men, Older People, Short-Term Solution, Women

I started taking this pill around Jan. 1st and consider it to be a miracle pill. I have a history of getting pneumonia and bronchitis at least 3 times a year as well as bad colds at least monthly, all winter long. I haven't been sick since, almost 3 months ago! Also, even though the pill is large, it does not upset my stomach like hard-packed pills do. Worth every penny, at least to me, and then some!

I started taking esther C about 2 months ago because it was recommended by my chiropractor. I was healthy the entire time while everyone around me had cold and flu symptoms. Then I ran out. Two days later, I caught a cold. I immediately ordered a new bottle from drugstore.com and started feeling better after the first pill. This is the only supplement I've ever taken that actually makes me feel healthier. The pills are large, so if you don't like large pills, you might want to get the 500 mg size. Personally, I'd rather take one big pill and get it over with, than 2 small pills. Before I ordered these, I read a negative review concerning the pill size. I thought it was a little unfair. I mean, if it were possible to pack 1000 mg of readily absorbable C into a small pill, I'm sure the manufacturer would do so. To me, the effectiveness of the product is well worth the unpleasant chore of swallowing a large pill.

I would never be without Ester-C. So much better than regular C. Has helped me to avoid colds during the season when everyone around you is coughing & sneezing (with the addition to my regular multi-vitamin)! Also helps me breathe easier!
