A friend recommended this product to help soften calluses on my feet. It has done an outstanding job, not only on my feet, but on my legs and arms as well. It is the best product I have found to moisturize my skin in the high desert climate where I live.
AmLactin Moisturizing Lotion rates 4 out of 5 stars, from 69 customer reviews.Amlactin for KP
by Ian's Mommy[Verified Buyer] in Bay Area, California on 5/11/09
Pros: Long Lasting, Moisturizes Well, Softens Skin
Cons: Doesn't Absorb Well
Describe Yourself: Budget Buyer
Best Uses: After Shower/Bath
Bottom Line: recommended
My dermatologist suggested that we use Amlactin for our son's KP. He has it on his cheeks and his upper arms and has had it since he was a baby. We started using it after his bath or in the morning before he gets ready to go out. We're seeing a reduction in the bumps which is a great thing. We squeeze out a dime sized amount then rub into the bumps until it absorbs. It takes awhile and three year olds aren't known for their ability to stay still for long. So that's a drawback. But the product does really well.

This product was recommended to me by my dermatologist years ago for the little bumps I get on the outer part of my upper arms and sometimes on the outer part of my thighs. I tried it shortly after she recommended it and in a few weeks the bumps were gone and sometime after that, I don't recall how long, the red scar like marks they leave behind were also gone. After all these years I'm still using it as a preventative and my arms are smooth and clear. I only apply it to the areas it's needed so it lasts quite awhile. It does not have a great smell so after it dries thoroughly I apply my regular lotion as usual. I've recommended this to countless people, including my cosmetologist and she now recommends it too!!

by Slightly-dry-skin-Jen[Verified Reviewer] in Queens, NY on 3/3/09
Pros: Moisturizes Well
Cons: Bad Smell, Doesn't Absorb Well, Sticky, Unsatisfactory Results
Describe Yourself: Brand Buyer
Best Uses: None
Bottom Line: not recommended
I purchased Amlactin to treat those little red bumps. I'd used other unrelated products in the past successfully for this purpose (so I know it's possible to get rid of them). I used about 80% of the bottle over about 2+ months before I gave up on it. From my perspective, it was a bad 2 months. Amlactin has a subtle but distinctly unpleasant odor. I can't quite describe it, but its in the chemical, plastic, something slightly fermented category. The worst characteristic is the product's stickiness. It does not absorb at all, but just sets on top of the skin. This, of course, gives the skin a nice (temporary) luminous appearance--but sticky. The worst thing is to wear it at bedtime. My skin stuck to the sheets! Seriously uncomfortable, especially in the summer. Finally I decided to give up on Amlactin after some uncomfortable nights when I had to get up and wash the stuff off in the middle of the night so that I could sleep. I will not buy this product or its line again. It's really too bad-I had been so hopeful after reading the reviews.
AmLactin Moisturizing Lotion rates 5 out of 5 stars, from 69 customer reviews.Doctor recommended. It's the best.
by Josey Posey[Verified Buyer] in Atlanta on 2/22/09
Pros: Absorbs Quickly, Goes On Smoothly, Has no smell, Long Lasting, Moisturizes Well, Nice light feel, Not Greasy
Cons: A bit expensive, Has salty taste
Describe Yourself: Brand Buyer
Best Uses: After shower or bath, Healing, Preventive skin care, Winter Dryness
Bottom Line: recommended
This lotion was recommended to me by my dermatologist 15 years ago, before it could be bought over the counter. He used it himself and said if he could only use one product on his skin, this would be it. That was good enough for me and I've been using it ever since. I have dry/sensitive skin and this lotion is perfect for all but the most stubborn dry spots. It's a bit expensive and has a slightly salty taste, but I can live with that. I absolutely would not be without AmLactin Lotion! (PS, If you need a heavy-duty moisturizing cream, try AmLactin Cream.)

I used it after a week of intense sun @ the beach and this is the only product that I've used that prevented my horridly dry skin from peeling! I didn't even have to look like a prune because AmLactin has kept my skin soft and moisturized! No more scaly and unsightly skin!

I bought this brand after reading about it in a magazine for the little bumps on my upper arms. This has smoothed them out (and it also works great on dry elbows).
AmLactin Moisturizing Lotion rates 4 out of 5 stars, from 69 customer reviews.Very good product but stinky
by Gigi[Verified Reviewer] in NV on 12/10/08
Pros: Absorbs Quickly, Goes On Smoothly, Long Lasting, Moisturizes Well, Not Greasy, Softens Skin
Cons: Bad Smell
Describe Yourself: Budget Buyer
Best Uses: Bedtime, Dry/Chapped Skin, Mornings too, Winter Dryness
Bottom Line: recommended
recommended by my doctor, i tried this lotion for my very dry skin. My knuckles were chapped, and splitting and my hands were becming leather-like. It really works well - use it twice a day as stated on the bottle. Faint amonia smell when applied to dry skin that wears off quickly, STRONG smell when applied on wet skin. that is the only downside.
