I think this product works pretty well, but works better when applied and rinsed off with water, Sure it doesn't soften or moisturize very well, but it did relieve my shaving rash when I applied it, the rash keeps coming back when I shave but I just put Cetaphil cleanser on it and in a couple of hours it goes away to hardly nothing, and in the shower, it works very well! Doesn't do much for acne or breakouts though.

I am 36 and having been using Cetaphil for years. I think it is one of the best cleansers on the market. I have the fairest, most sensitive skin and have tried many skin care lines from the cheapest to the most luxurious and expensive. I always come back to Cetaphil. It really is a great product that is reasonably priced and leaves skin soft and smooth. I highly recommend this product.

This is always recommended for people with sensitive skin, but on my sensitive, somewhat dry skin it was AWFUL! I tried it several times because it was so touted, but every time it: a) dried my skin out and b) caused awful irritations/breakouts. (It may be because of the propylene glycol, as another reviewer pointed out) It may work for some, but beware for those others! There are better, cleaner and far less irritating cleansers out there: Neutrogena fresh foaming cleanser and Eucerin gentle hydrating cleanser both work very well.

I give Cetaphil 5 stars because it works very well. When I was 13 or so, I was going to many dermatologists for many different problems; eczema since birth, extreme razor burn on my legs, itchiness all over, flaking, dehydrated skin on large parts of my body, etc. One of these docs told me to use Cetaphil and now all of those skin problems are a distant memory. I am 20 now and it feels like another lifetime ago when I had problem skin. I can shave now without pain, I no longer itch or flake, and I no longer need prescription body lotions for eczema and dryness. Wow, I can't believe how much Cetaphil has helped. The bottle should be updated with a pump and a prettier design.

After hearing rave reviews, I decided to test this product as I am always on the lookout for great bargain facial cleansers. This product just doesn't cut it! It didn't wash the make-up off, dried out my skin, and left me broken out! The best cleanser for normal/sensitive skin is Basis - only if you use a dime size and lather up. Trust me.

This has been my favorite beauty product since I was a teen (about 15 years ago). It has a smooth texture not too runny. Very gentle to rub around eyes and gets rid of make-up fabulous. Have to rub a bit harder if using waterproof mascara but will take it off without a separate product. Sometimes I rinse it off and my face feels soft but when I tissue it off (great for traveling) I rarely require a separate moisturizer. This size bottle lasts me about 8 months or so (a little goes a long ways). It does not produce a "scrubbed clean" finish but sometimes to get that feeling, you are really damaging your skin. I have used this product when my skin was acne prone and it didn't irritate it further and I use it now as I'm getting my first wrinkles. I imagine I'll still be using it when I'm fully wrinkled. I've tried other products "for fun" but find they don't do any better, mostly worse, and they cost more money. I wish I'd just learn and stick with this product!

Before this product I used soap and water, which was ok for a bit of time, but I like to try new things. I saw Cetaphil on the counter one day and it said "Gentle Skin Cleanser". My skin is tan and red (I guess irritated), and if I get a blemish it'll show up nasty and red so I started using this product. I use it by applying it with my fingers and putting dots on my cheek's forehead, and chin area and then I rub it everywhere on my face. After, I like splashing with water so it takes off the residue. Well, after about three weeks my skin is nice, it doesnt breakout that much, and it is softer indeed! This product really does work give it a try!

After reading extensive reviews on this product and seeing it in Allure's "Best of 2004" I decided to try it. I have acne-prone, sensitive skin, and have difficulty finding good cleansers that work hard enough for acne but gentle enough for sensitivity. So long story short, this cleanser does not lather up, which I didnt like. It removed hardly any makeup, and left my skin filmy. Who said it was supposed to do this, supposedly for moisturization? NO. This caused me to break out even more. So then I thought, him, it says you can also use it as a body wash. Another bad idea, as the film it leaves prevents proper post-shower lotion application. Then I realized that it also said that it was gentle enough for baby's skin? There's your hint that it 's not going to do its job.

This is a great product! I have really sensitive skin and it doesn't make me break out. One of the best products out there! It's a little expensive, but it's worth it. A little goes a long way for this product.

I have rosacea and this is the only cleanser that doesn't make me itchy. Great stuff! Leaves your skin super soft. Also, if you wear makeup, try this cleanser with a soft cloth and GENTLY scrub in circles. This gets my makeup off everytime and also gets rid of the flakes.
