Pros: Gentle

My dermatologist recommended I use this many years ago. I have "Irish skin" which means it is very sensitive and dry. It has worked wonders. My 18 year old son uses it also
Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser rates 4 out of 5 stars, from 271 customer reviews.great all around cleanser
by wgrape[Verified Buyer] in nyc on 3/19/09
Pros: Gentle
Cons: Low ewg rating
Describe Yourself: Budget Buyer
Best Uses: All Skin Types
Bottom Line: recommended
We used this on our baby as a bath soap and it works well. It is clean and doesn't have weird artificial fragrances. The only downside is there are other products with better EWG ratings but those products are more costly. You get more bang for your buck with this but if you are really concerned with phthalates and other toxins, you opt for a higher priced product.

Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser rates 2 out of 5 stars, from 271 customer reviews.Made my skin super dry
by PharmStudent[Verified Reviewer] in Southern California on 3/16/09
Pros: Leaves Clean Feel, Not Greasy
Cons: Doesn't Remove Makeup, Dries Out Skin
Describe Yourself: Budget Buyer
Best Uses: Sensitive Skin
Bottom Line: not recommended
I'm one of the few people for whom Cetaphil is ineffective. I had read and heard such rave reviews for it that I finally decided to try it. My skin is pretty sensitive, but Cetaphil didn't cause any major problems or reactions. In conjunction with my topical acne medication, which I have been on for months without complaint, Cetaphil worked really well the first two or three weeks. Then my skin became really dry in patchy areas on my face and my skin was literally flaking off. SO gross. I stopped using Cetaphil about a week ago in favor of Biore Detoxifying Daily Scrub and my skin is no longer dry and flaky.
Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser rates 1 out of 5 stars, from 271 customer reviews.not what it seams to be!!!
by max[Verified Reviewer] in houston, tx on 3/14/09

Water, Cetyl Alcohol, Propylene Glycol, Sodium Lauryl Sulfate, Stearyl Alcohol, Methylparaben, Propylparaben, Butylparaben these are the ingredients it has!! all of which are bad! (except for water!!) they dry out your skin (alcohol), strips the skins natural oils completely (Propylene Glycol), use harsh foaming agents like Sodium Lauryl Sulfate, and worst of all it has perabeans! (Methylparaben, Propylparaben, Butylparaben) this seam to be gentle but its not! harsh harsh harsh. try something that doesn't contain these ingredients.
Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser rates 5 out of 5 stars, from 271 customer reviews.great for my skin

Pros: Balances Skin, Deep Cleans, Gentle, Improves Skin Texture, Leaves Clean Feel, Removes Make Up, Smells Great
Bottom Line: recommended
easy to use and effective. I understand why it is a stape at fashion shows and is regularly recommended by make-up artists, dermatologists, models, and others in the beauty/skincare field.
Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser rates 4 out of 5 stars, from 271 customer reviews.Use it in the AM when I wake up
by fung1964[Verified Reviewer] in Brooklyn, NY on 3/3/09
Pros: Gentle, Leaves Clean Feel, Not Greasy
Describe Yourself: Budget Buyer
Best Uses: All Skin Types
Bottom Line: recommended
I split my cleansers into two types. Cetaphil in the AM and any brand with 2% Salicylic Acid in the PM. This way I prevent adult acne without drying out my skin too much. So far so good. I just have to find the right moisturizer. Have tried drugstore brand (Cetaphil, Neutrogena, Oil of Olay, etc) vs. salon brand (Sonya Dakar, Murad, Yonka) and cannot see the difference.
