I've been taking this product on my own for years. My doctor told me the vitamin D in the product is very important. I take two a day and will continue to do so. However, I discovered that instead of taking two caplets a day as I did with Caltrate, I have to take four, even though this is supposed to be maximum strength. Also, the caplets are huge and get stuck in my throat. I would not recommend this product. I have a VERY sensitive stomach, and these are the only pills I can take, that will not upset my stomach.I have even taken them on an empty stomach, with little to no discomfort. My husband read about Citrical, that it was easy on the stomach. I've been taking 4 caplets a day for several months and it does not bother my stomach at all. My doctor said it was due to the beginning of osteoporotis and asked if I was taking a Calcium supplement. I told him I was but since it wasn't enough and didn't have vitamind D, he recommeneded Calcitrate maximum with D. I have been taking it several months now and my back pain has completely disappeared. I feel like I have more straength and my polsture is much better. These are by far the best calcium supplements as they contain calcium citrate, which is the most easily absorbed form of calcium, and is not as likely to cause kidney stones. Calcium is essential for bone health and is one of the most important minerals an athlete can take. These are easy to take, contain a good amount of vitamin D along with the calcium, and do not cause any ill side effects.
