This is a must in canker sore prevention. I've been taking it for about 7 months now and while it hasn't stopped the outbreaks altogether, it definitely helps heal the cankers faster and helps ease the pain associated with them. And yes, I mean CANKER sores, not just cold sores. Amazing stuff, worth a shot.

After a particularly horrid outbreak of cold sores, my pharmacist recommended Lysine in case I ran out of my prescription. I think that I must be allergic to some filler used in the supplement (or maybe the Lysine?) because every day for almost a week I took the recommended dosage and everyday by late afternoon I broke out in huge welts on my arms and my neck and ears became bright red and itchy. It did help my cold sores to subside a little, but it was hard to justify continued use with side effects like those!
