I recently made the switch to dying my hair by myself to save a little bit of money. I was terrified at first, but I found these L'oreal kits and they are so easy to use! If I can do it, anyone can do it. Be warned though- Dark Biscotti is more of a dark strawberry blonde/auburn. I'm not sure why they label it as a "Dark Blonde" because it has red in it. It's the perfect color for me and I've received so many compliments with it, but if you're looking for a true dark blonde stay away! Looking for an auburn? This is perfect.I'd like to say how easy the highlighting portion of the kit is to use now that L'oreal has replaced the old method (a brush to paint on highlights) with a new one. Each kit comes with a handy little foam applicator that looks a bit like a mini straightening iron- it makes it so easy to get the highlighting bleach onto the hair. I only apply the highlights on my top few layers, then I let them process for about 30 to 45 minutes, and ta da! Beautiful highlights that darn near look like they were done in a salon. I'm typically a complete spaz when it comes to doing these things, so the fact that even I can't screw it up is pretty impressive.The color lasts as long as most reds last- about six to eight weeks. After that, I'm ready for a redye. But still, considering this kit is only [$](and I was spending hundreds at the salon getting my hair dyed before this!), I don't mind having to redye often. This kit is easy, affordable, and makes my hair look great. I love it, and I don't think I'll ever go back to the salon for highlights or color again!

This by far is my favorite home coloring kit. My hair had been seriously damaged from salon color (color correction from a bad salon dye job, bleach, and more color). This is the only hair color with "staying" power that I've put on my bleach and color damaged hair (it was platinum blonde). The colors are beautiful and I even found one that matched my natural color! I get compliments all the time on the color and I love the look of surprise when I tell them it wasn't done at a salon. This is definitely a 2 person dye job. Unless you have a lot of experience dying your own hair (and I have minimal experience) have a "partner" help you. Also, be wary of the highlights brush as it will fling bleach all over (I found bits on my ceiling, bathroom door, towel, floor, etc.). A good work around is to use your gloved fingers to massage the strands with the bleach rather than attempting to use the brush.
