This has been extremely helpful to me for my sensitive kids, & they don't mind taking it. It controls their symptoms well, though it does make them drowsy, so I give it to them at bedtime. Other than being a very expensive product, it does seem to be a good one.
This product has really kept my son's eczma outbreaks to a minimum. He has been on it since it was only available by RX. Thank the lord it is now available over the counter.
My daughter has asthma and terrible allergies. Her pulminologist (asthma dr) recommended Zyrtec over Claritan because she said it had better results in kids. I'm not sure if that is tru or not, but it seems to help my daughter. It is a pain because she needs to take it twice a day, just smaller doses - but once in the morning and once at bed time isn't difficult and it tastes ok.
My 3 yo daughter had her tonsils and adenoids out and a second set of tubes put in at almost the same time she made the switch from Claritan to Zyrtec. So, it is hard to say if it works better than Claritan. We made the switch because the ENT surgeon said that Zyretec has better results in children. So, even though she takes this twice a day vs once, it is MUCH easier to get her to take this. She says it doesn't "burn" when she takes it.
