Expression Phase - after milk flow or "let-down" starts, babies breastfeed with a slower, deeper suck, bringing out more milk faster.

This pump is absolutely wonderful!! I have been using my old Medela Double Ease breast pump that I got when I had my 1st son, 7 years ago. It served it's purpose through 2 children, but the motor was beginning to wear down and now that I just had my daughter, I needed a new pump. I've always wanted a breastpump that would allow me to be hands-free and mobile, so when I found this I was THRILLED! Yes, the price is steep, but it is well worth the extra money since I'm not able to breastfeed, and am pumping exclusively. I figure it will pay for itself in money saved from not buying formula. The hands-free straps are very easy to use and the parts are easy to clean. I think this pump will keep me pumping for a long time since I'm not tied to one spot and do other things. I've also noticed that I am able to get more milk in less time with this pump. The only draw back to this product is the bag. I would think that for the price, it would come with a nicer, more functional bag. The pockets inside aren't big enough to fit all the pump parts together, so they are loose in the bottom of the bag. I am carrying my pump in a Ziplock bag, in my diaper bag instead of the one it came with because it has more pockets and the pump is small enough that it doesn't take up much room. Aside from the bag, this is an AMAZING product!!

I work full-time and pump twice a day while working. I love the hands-free concept. However, it's not real easy/fast to put together and clean up due to the number of pieces. The battery option is great and holds a charge for many pumping episodes.
I only gave this pump 2 stars because of the low volumes of milk I'm able to produce while using it. I have used 3 other pumps and this pump yields a significantly lower volume of milk than any of the others (all Medela as well). I can't keep up with my baby's demand with this pump. I've consulted my lactation consultant and she agrees that it is the pump and not "me". Again, I love the hands-free idea, but can't sacrifice the volume for convenience.

I used the Medela Symphony at first to bring in milk supply. Now, I use my Freestyle for work and home pumping. Its very portable. At my work, I am sometimes able to continue working as I pump, since the pump is compact and allows me to have my hands free and still reach my computer. The only downside is that it seems very loud and gets louder when you pump at higher pressure. Medela seems very aware of this and have coated the base with rubber so you don't hear plastic vibration. Its incredibly worth it and for the drugstore dot com price, it can't be beat!

I absolutely love this pump. I purchased a strapless cotton pumping bra and just slip it over my head before setting up the pumps. A must have...!!

I love how free this pump keeps me. I bought it for when I return to work, but am using it already to help increase my milk supply for my twins. It's easy to start using, and is quite comfortable compared to the horror stories I've heard from friends using hand-pumps. I've been able to do dishes, catch up on work email, read and sit and watch TV. I love the freedom. Just one heads up - don't bend over while pumping. Something about the design will make it leak. I suppose that I should be sitting down to relax anyway, huh?!? Love this pump!

Works well. Very nice design. I would recommend to anyone. It is pricy - but I think well worth it. I bought cheap ones on my first child and went through 4 or 5 - broke from use, etc. This is easy to use and works well - so far. I am happy with this product.

This pump has enabled me to have GALLONS of milk in the freezer - I am not joking. I use it every day, as I work full time. I agree with a previous rating that the bag could have better storage for the parts, but the actual pump is super fantastic, so I feel it deserves all the stars.

I tried to use this pump without the hands-free straps, and I totally understood my friends' frustration with pumping. Once I figured out that the hands-free straps were easy to use, it changed my pumping experience. I had to pump because my daughter was not getting enough milk when she nursed (as verified by not gaining weight and a lengthy visit with a lactation consultant). I was worried it would be cumbersome and inconvenient, but this pump is amazing. I put it on, throw a t-shirt over it and do chores while I pump. I'm a teacher, so this pump also makes pumping at school so much easier. I simply lock my door, attach the pump, and sit down to do some much needed grading. I highly recommend it. I've used it everyday for the last three months with absolutely no problems.

I am so glad I have this pump. This is the third pump I have used and I only wish I had gotten it sooner. It is so easy to move around. I don't feel tied down or restriced when I pump which is a big relief. The parts are easy to put together and to clean. The battery works great, I have used the pump for 4 to 5 times (10-15 min each time) and I stil have more than half of my battery power. It is also dual voltage. Which is great for me because I live overseas. I have only used the straps once and it wasn't too difficult.
One thing I really do not like about this is the bag. Which is why I marked it down to a 4 -It has no storage bag or pockets big enough to fit the breast shields and other parts...I guess they just want you to throw them in the bag to fly around every where? -The pocket it has for the pump is flimsy and does not hold it well. -The bottle bag is bulky and takes up alot of room in the main bag.
Besides the bag...I love the pump!!

This pump is amazing! I have the Pump in Style Backpack as well and ever since I bought the Freestyle I never use the Backpack pump. I can pump with no worries. My baby can wake up and if she cries I just move the pump next to her crib and she's perfectly happy. But the best thing about this pump is that I cut my pumping time from 20 minutes down to 6 minutes. I regreat not buying this pump earlier. The hands free straps are tricky, I don't use them, when pumping is so quick I just wait to do other tasks. I love the ability just to pick up the pump and move easily. Great for taking your kids to Disneyland, Sea World and other places like that.
