If you are following a low carb diet, you already know the dangers of falling off the carb wagon. It's hard at first to cut sweets from your diet, but with these bars, even though they say that they have low "net" carbs (not sure I agree with that concept to begin with)they can and will trigger your desire for sweet things, candy etc. Stick to a low carb diet without these and you'll be more successful. Yes it's harder, but soon your body no longer wants sweets. These bars make that process much longer than avoiding them all together.
It's a struggle for me to find something to eat for breakfast every day. I can't tolerate carbs in the mornings; typical breakfast foods like cereal, bread, fruit or sugary yogurt put me right to sleep. And I don't want heavy, high cholesterol protein foods like eggs or meat, especially first thing in the morning. I had been eating some pricey and tasteless soy protein bars but then I discovered these. 17 grams of protein jump starts my day without weighing me down with carbs, fat and cholesterol. 6g fiber is not bad. They taste good enough; these are made of soy crisps (kind of like rice crispies) not that gummy paste used in some Atkins bars. These give me much more energy than I had when I was eating oatmeal, granola, yogurt, fruit or eggs. Of all the Atkins choices the Chocolate Chip Granola bar tastes best and has the most protein. Compared to similar products the price is quite reasonable.
I eat this bar for breakfast every day and it is amazing how filling it is. The only thing with these bars is that they are expensive. Other than that, I love them!
I use this as a meal or as an add to a meal. The only thing I don't like (besides they are a bit expensive) is that they crumble a bit when I eat them on the run. But that is probably one of the reasons they are so good!
I eat one of these every day to satisfy my sweet tooth and stick to my no-sugar lifestyle. Great snack and meal replacement in a pinch, if necessary. By far, the best snack bar I have ever tried.
