Warnings
Keep out of eyes: wash out with water 15 minutes and consult a physician if irritation persists. Ok, I admit that it took me a while to get over the smell and the color. (smells like toasted seeds or nuts, looks like brown goop). BUT from the first time I used this product, I was determined to overlook it's quirkiness because it works SO WELL!!! My skin feels So smooth and delicious, and I barely need to use moisturizer after showering with this. Also note that the smell does not stay with you after your shower. (That's a good way to determine that its fragrance is natural, not synthetic.)
Now that I'm 2/3 through the bottle, I love the smell!! (Flowery, synthetic, perfumed shower gels smell gross to me now!) I will buy this again and again.

Multiple uses for the bathroom. Described as 'Unscented', there is a mild scent. Fortunately, it is a scent that I have come to enjoy, and why I have just ordered Dr, Bronner's Unscented Shaving Gel.

I have used the original Dr. Bronner's castile soap in unscented, almond oil, and tea tree oil. I wanted to try this version to see if there's any difference. I find that this version lathers more and is better to use when shaving my legs in the shower. I use it as an overall bodywash and then lather it up where I want to shave. Some people complain about the color of it. In the bottle it is a brownish color but when I put it on my loufah and lather it up the color goes away so it doesn't bother me at all. I also love the "scent" of the unscented one. It's very mild.

As everyone has said, I was surprised by the brown color and odd smell. I was seeking a fragrance-free soap because I get migraines from fragrance. This soap has an (odd) odor but it is organic and it doesn't give me headaches, so it works fine for me.
I bought it for use as a hand soap but it dribbles brown streaks into my white bathroom sink, so I have transferred it to the shower and will find another liquid hand soap.
One other mild criticism is that the dispenser nozzle feels weak, like it will break. It hasn't broken so far.
What I like most is that this is a fair-trade product.

If you can get past the dirt color and the molasses smell, this soap is actually pretty great. My skin is smoother and softer without the sacrifice of that "clean" feeling. I would definitely buy this product again.

Yes, this soap is brown, which is surprising at first. The consistency is more liquid than expected, and both take a little getting used to. However, using [@] (the Skin Deep site where you can check on toxicity of ingredients and products), you can see that this soap has very little to worry about in its ingredients, which was why I bought it in the first place. It lathers up very well, doesn't dry my skin, and rinses clean. All that, combined with the fact that It's so mild and gentle that I feel safe using it while pregnant and will use it on my baby, definitely gives it five stars.
