Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Wash Facial Cleanser, Pink Grapefruit rates 1 out of 5 stars, from 29 customer reviews.CAUTION - Extremely drying & irritating
by Dillweed[Verified Reviewer] in Nebraska on 11/6/09
Pros: Leaves Clean Feel
Cons: Dries Out Skin, Irritates Skin
Bottom Line: not recommended
After using for only 3 days, the lower portion of my face is overly dry, red and flaky with dozens of tiny whiteheads. It looks horrible! I do NOT have sensitive skin - I have used all sorts of cleansers, peels and masks in the past and have never had a problem. But, this is way too harsh. Maybe once my skin gets back to normal, I may try using this once a week - but not daily - and certainly not twice a day like the product suggests - no, no, no!

Pros: Balances Skin, Gentle, Improves Skin Texture, Leaves Clean Feel, Not Greasy, Smells Great
Describe Yourself: Brand Buyer
Best Uses: All Skin Types, Combination Skin, Daily Use, Oily Skin, Sensitive Skin
Bottom Line: recommended
love love love this. Smell doesn't bother me and see other review under the newer "green" color because I didnt' see this one to write a review until now. I use this one and not the green color but I am sure that one is ok too. Use for senstivie oily/combo skin (good for even over 40 skin) in combo with Neutrogena "Clear Pore oil-elim Astringent" and then "Healthy Skin moisturizers" afterwards (non-spf formulas please if sensitive skin). Skin is clear and smell is light --shouldn't bother you if sensitive skin or just regular. See also Healhy Skin non spf skin creams for reviews if sentive skin and to smell. Love this.

Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Wash Facial Cleanser, Pink Grapefruit rates 1 out of 5 stars, from 29 customer reviews.Citrus is NEVER good for skin.

Pros: Smells Great
Cons: Dries Out Skin, Irritates Skin

Very very drying. Grapefruit is an irritation citrus with volitile components. It's a good thing that it is rinsed down the drain before it can do too much damage, since grapefruit can cause contact dermatitis or a phototoxic reaction when exposed to sunlight, so do you really want to include that in your skincare routine to begin with? You're much better off without it, trust me. I also noticed that one reviewer said it is drying, but that is a part of clearing acne. This is somewhat true, yes you want to absorb the oil on your face using blotting papers, mattifying lotions, and masks (plain ol' mild of magnesia makes a GREAT mask, with soothing and mild disenfecting properties, fyi) BUT, you don't want to overdry skin, because when that happens, the sebacious glands compensate for the extreme loss of oil by producing even MORE, making your face just that much worse. Basically, the best cleanser for ANY skin type is a GENTLE one.

Thats so funny that Paula said that about the cat pee smell because i thought the same thing! At first i LOVED it and the smell was great but about halfway through the tube it started drying my skin out like crazy and it smelt an awful smell which was definatley similar to cat pee! I have 3 cats and once i smelt that i thought for sure one of them peed on my bathroom floor but it was this cleanser. It really did work great at first but i had to stop using it.

I love this! I had been using my neutrogena Wave to maintain my skin and it did a pretty good job. But when i ran out of refills for 3 days my skin broke out like crazy! So I decided to buy a basic cleanser since i am going camping soon. Its been two days and i can already the the redness and inflamation going down. I wash with this in the shower and then when i get out I use the Clean and clear dual action moisturizer and for make-up i wear the Neutropgena Skin clearing make-up. Love It!!
Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Wash Facial Cleanser, Pink Grapefruit rates 4 out of 5 stars, from 29 customer reviews.Works well
by dancedancedance[Verified Reviewer] in georgia on 7/8/09
Pros: Clears breakouts, Easy To Use, Smells great
Cons: Dries Out Skin
Describe Yourself: Brand Buyer
Best Uses: Moderate Acne
Bottom Line: recommended
I use this once every day along with another Neutrogena anti-acne cream. The salicylic acid in it is more gentle on my skin than the high amounts of benzoyl peroxide that was in other cleansers, or even the Proactiv system. However, it does dry your skin out a little bit temporarily.
Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Wash Facial Cleanser, Pink Grapefruit rates 5 out of 5 stars, from 29 customer reviews.Absolutely great!!
by la dee da[Verified Reviewer] in Seattle, WA on 6/14/09
Pros: Easy To Use, Soothing, Works Effectively
Describe Yourself: Budget Buyer
Best Uses: Adult Acne, Moderate Acne, Teen Acne
Bottom Line: recommended
This cleanser is great. But, I only recommend it for super oily skin because it does tend to dry your skin out. It smells amazing, works on my teenage acne prone skin, and removes makeup really great! All the things I look for in a cleanser.
