The MAM bottle is designed to closely replicate the breast feeding experience and preferred by mothers for transition between breast and bottle.

Typical Bottle Feeding Process: When a baby nurses from a non-vented reusable bottle she will suck milk out of the bottle, causing vacuum to build up inside the bottle.  Once enough vacuum pressure builds up, the nipple will collapse on itself, causing baby to release the nipple, gasp in air and reattach.  Babies ingest air through the mouth and nose during this process which contributes to upset tummy, gas and colic.  Additionally, the bottle will take in air through the nipple, which causes a "frothy" build-up inside the bottle.

The Breast Feeding Process: Mothers who breastfeed will notice the nipple will seem quite symmetrical and flattened when baby releases the breast.  This happens because of the way baby latches on and rolls her tongue along the breast to "strip" the milk.  Breastfed babies do not learn to release, gasp and reattach while feeding because the breast does not build up vacuum or collapse.  This is why breastfed babies have a hard time transitioning to a bottle and can become colicky.

Instructions For Use:

• Before first use, wash all components thoroughly and sterilize by boiling in open pan of water for at least 5 minutes.
• Do not use abrasive cleaning agents.
• Store nipples and vent in a dry, covered container.
• Do not leave in sunlight.
• Ensure vent is assembled correctly and the base of the bottle is firmly attached prior to filling bottle with liquid.
• Always feed infant with adult supervision.
• Do not let babies self-feed.
• Do not prop bottle to feed.
• Nipples should not be used as pacifiers or soothers.

Heating Instructions:

• Do not overheat.
• Place under hot, running water or,
• Place in container of heated water.
• Microwave heating is not recommended.

Always test temperature of formula after heating, prior to giving bottle to baby.  You can test liquid temperature by dripping a drop of formula on the inside of your own wrist.  This is a sensitive area to heat and cold.  This will help you gauge if liquid is too warm for your baby.
