I have a cat that cannot self feed, so this product was a savoir. My cat started waking me up every single morning for food and as time went by, she would wake me up earlier and earlier every morning.
In three years of having this product, I have not had a single issue with it. My cat now sits in front of this in the morning and will paw at it instead of waking me up. She is capable of sticking her paw up into the spout to get out a couple of pieces of food, but this does not give her additional food. All it accomplishes is taking food from her next feeding.
One day I was messing with the timer and accidently set it wrong (didn't change it from PM to AM). This caused the food to dispense until there was so much that it jammed. I assumed it broke, but once I cleaned it out it worked perfectly. So it's very durable! Just make sure you purchase the correct size food that it states in the instructions and you shouldn't have any issues with it!

We have had this in operation so far for a week. The timer set up was a snap as long as you read the directions and it works perfectly. The timer is large and will cover the outlet depending on how your sockets are arranged, but there is a power outlet on the side of it that is great. I have set the feedings for twice a day at about 45 seconds each and it appears to give about 1/2 cup on each feeding for two cats.
What I did was set it at 1.5 minutes each run to start off and put extra food back in just before the next feeding to gauge the amount needed and reduced the timer accordingly. Still monitoriing to make sure both cats get enough food.
This system looks like it will be perfect while we are not home as one cat really needs to lose weight and by not having to leave dry food out all the time she won't be grazing all day long and then throwing up what she ate. Perfect so far.
Also with the spout set up on the machine and not the door the problem of them getting more food seems to be solved.

My Beagle is getting used to this. She likes to try to push it around to get more food out - which doesn't happen. It's jammed 3 times, but each was an easy fix.

This product is a great concept but it jams easily and then the spout started to break because the food was jamming. Little bits of plastic fall into the food. I called the 888 number and they are going to sent me a new spout. I'll have to figure out how to take the thing apart and put the new one on. If you aren't there to check it everyday I wouldn't recommend this product. I travel and my kitties went without food for a couple of days because it jammed.
