If I forget to take one, I can usually take one if I notice any symptoms coming on to stop them . I use Alavert as my first line of defense to avoid stronger medications.

I took the first 6 doses, and they were fine, but after each subsequent dose, I just didn't feel good. My stomach felt kind of queasy, and my head felt weird. I couldn't pin it down to anything specific; I just felt blah.
I had been sick, so I didn't really notice until my last 2 doses, that disgusting aftertaste that can only mean an artificial sweetener was in the ingredients. I checked, and sure enough, ASPARTAME! The worst one of all! It also contains mannitol, another fake sugar that is being increasingly used. No wonder I felt weird! Now I have a choice, either take this for a few days until I can get Claritin, stop it all together and get excruciating headaches, switch to Zyrtec, which made me bloated this year, plus I would have to wait until that started kicking in... What a pain!
I really should have realized and I should have checked, but with so many people having reactions to artificial sweeteners, why would anyone put this stuff in an ALLERGY pill of all things, and why use 2 artificial sweeteners as well as corn syrup solids? I'm sweet enough (and ill enough) as it is.
When I could not find Alavert on local grocery supermarket and major pharmacy chain store shelves, I came directly here and bought Alavert--2 64 count boxes for the first time. This product is the same as Claritin, with one major difference. This requires no water--chew and swallow. For seasonal allergies, I take it in the evening because many plants seem to release their pollens in the morning and I am protected. It works almost instantly for allergy relief. I have even used it when contact from unexpected sources made me itch and it worked fast. I made a second 2 box purchase not long ago, as both my husband and myself use it!

It takes effect almost immediately as it disolves on your tongue. The mint is the best flavor. The itching stops quickly 20 minutes at most. It doesn't interfere with my other medications
This is an antihistamine, not a decongestant. I often take it with Sudafed (the kind the pharmasist has behind the counter). Sudafed is a decongestant. We like that Alavert dissolves quickly and has a very pleasant mint flavor. I don't experience any side effects- I did when I tried Zyrtec.
