Optive Sensitive Preservative-Free Lubricant Eye Drops rates 5 out of 5 stars, from 10 customer reviews.Love these drops!
by Cynthia[Verified Reviewer] in San Francisco on 10/16/09
Pros: Easy To Use, Gentle
Best Uses: Dry Eyes, Sensitive Eyes
Bottom Line: recommended
My doctor recommended these drops and they work very well! One thing to note is that the top will click back into place so they vial can be used several times throughout the day instead of the single (very costly) use the manufacturer recommends. What a cost savings! My doctor actually is the one who mentioned it. She said to keep the vial in a clean tissue to prevent contamination and discard after 1 day.

Best Uses: Dry Eyes

I had lasik done less than 2 months ago. I switched from Refresh Tears vials to Optive after reading all the positive reviews, now I'm alternating between the two during the day. Refresh Tears provides instant relief with no effect on vision, but it doesn't last very long. I would need to reapply quite often. Optive is longer lasting and is slightly thicker than Refresh Tears. I find using Optive for computer use and before bedtime more effective. I am thinking to switch to Optive completely next time.

Pros: Easy To Use, Gentle, Improves Vision, Soothing
Describe Yourself: Have Chronic Dry Eyes, Wear Glasses
Best Uses: Dry Eyes, Quick Fix, Sensitive Eyes
Bottom Line: recommended
I tried other eye drops including Optiv regular drops with no relief. In fact the others all caused stinging and irritation. The Optiv for Sensitive Eyes really is different. It is soothing, relieves dry eye, and clears up my vision so I can see again! I always keep a few of the one dose caps in my purse so I always have it handy. Try it! P.S. I rarely can find this in the local stores in my neighborhood so ordering from Drugstore.com is very convenient.

by Carol Gordon[Verified Buyer] in Lawrenceville, GA on 6/18/09
Pros: Easy To Use, Gentle
Cons: Doesn't moisturize enough
Describe Yourself: Allergy Sufferer, Have Chronic Dry Eyes
Best Uses: Dry Eyes, Quick Fix
Bottom Line: recommended
I bought this brand on the recommendation of my eye doctor who told me I needed a preservative-free drop and thus needed to use the single use vials. To me, this product does not moisturize nearly as well as Thera Tears. What I do prefer over the Thera Tears packaging is that this vial has just the right amount of drops for a single use and can also be recapped for use a very short time later. I have chronic dry eyes due to Hashimoto's Thyroiditis and need some type eye moisturizer on a daily basis, often multiple times a day, so this fits easily in my purse and, as I said previously, can be recapped.

I just had IntraLasik surgery to correct my vision. I suffer from chronic dry eye and my doctor recommended these drops and Oasis TearsPlus to support the healing process. These actually work very well and I alternate between the two brands (simply because a mixture of the two seems to work best for me and my vision needs).

After trying many preservative-free products (about 6) this is the only one I can tolerate. I use it two to three times a day, depending on how dry my eyes feel. It works for me, giving me temporary comfort.

by connie consumer[Verified Buyer] in carmel, california on 2/6/09
Pros: Easy To Use, Gentle
Describe Yourself: Allergy Sufferer, Have Chronic Dry Eyes, Lasik patient
Best Uses: Quick Fix
Bottom Line: not recommended
I typically find the "single-use" drops to have too much liquid in ea tube, some goes to waste if you can't "recap" the tube. These tubes have too little liquid. I did not find the formula to have a long lasting effect and the formula leaves a crusty residue on your skin when it dries. I recommend "Systane".
